"Jaws of Life" required to extract two victims in Camarillo Traffic Accident

Camarillo traffic deputies responded to an injury traffic collision at the intersection of Santa Rosa Road and Woodcreek Road. A sports car was turning left from Santa Rosa Rd. onto Woodcreek Road when it was broadsided by a Sport Utility Vehicle traveling west on Santa Rosa Road.

As a result of the collision both drivers sustained minor injuries involving complaints of pain and small lacerations. The passenger in the sports car was trapped and had to be extricated by the County Fire Department’s with use of, “the jaws of life.” The passenger sustained serious injuries. The passenger, along with P1, was transported by ambulance to Los Robles Hospital Regional Medical Center, in Thousand Oaks. P2 was transported by ambulance to Ventura County Regional Medical Center, in Ventura.

At this time, investigators do not believe alcohol or drugs contributed to the collision. As a result of the accident, lanes of both roadways remained partially opened to traffic during the investigation.

The investigation is continuing and anyone who may have witnessed the accident, and who has not yet come forward, is asked to contact the Camarillo Police Department’s Traffic Bureau.
