Improvised Explosive Device Hoax

At about 7:30 on January 11, 2011 an improvised explosive hoax device was located at Moorpark High School by the school maintenance crew. School Resource Officer, Deputy Chris Starks confirmed the object as suspicious. Moorpark High School Administration ordered a precautionary evacuation of the affected area where the object was located.

The Ventura County Bomb Unit was notified and responded to the location. Once on scene they rendered the object safe. In their investigation, they determined the object to be a hoax device.

Moorpark High School was back in secession by 9:00AM.
