Gov. Schwarzenegger Issues Statement on Death of CHP Officer Thomas Coleman

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger today released the following statement regarding the death of California Highway Patrol (CHP) Officer Thomas Coleman of Fontana, CA:

“Officer Thomas Coleman committed his life to protecting the safety of the people of California. He was an outstanding officer who demonstrated his dedication and selflessness through his hard work in the line of duty. On behalf of all Californians, Maria and I extend our deepest sympathies to Thomas’ family and loved ones during this very difficult time.”

Officer Coleman, 33, died June 11, as a result of fatal injuries sustained in a collision while responding to an emergency incident. Officer Coleman is survived by his wife, Jamie Jean Coleman; son Ryan Joseph Coleman, age two years old; daughter Shaylen Marie Coleman, age eleven months; mother Janice Womack; and sister Kathleen Pool.

In honor of Officer Coleman, Capitol flags will be flown at half-staff.
