District Attorney Gregory D. Totten announced today that Gustavo Fregoso (DOB 12/1/1986) of Oxnard was convicted of sodomizing a six-year-old girl in violation of Penal Code section 288.7(a). The jury returned its verdict after less than an hour of deliberation.

In 2012, Fregoso sodomized the victim on multiple occasions when the child would spend the night at his home in Oxnard. In early 2013, the child reported the crime to her mother, who then reported the crime to the Oxnard Police Department.

Sentencing is set for June 9, 2015, at 8:30 a.m. in courtroom 26 of the Ventura Superior Court. The defendant faces a sentence of 25 years to life in prison.
