Four Oxnard residents were arrested Sunday morning in Camarillo after deputies discovered the vehicle they were driving had been stolen the previous night in Port Hueneme. The ensuing investigation tied the group to numerous vehicle burglaries that occurred early Sunday morning in Thousand Oaks.

Deputy Guillermo Valencia noticed the blue Chevy Suburban with four young men driving through a residential neighborhood. As he followed the vehicle, it accelerated and made several turns in an apparent attempt to evade Valencia. As he turned his patrol car onto Calle La Cumbre, he found the Suburban parked and unoccupied.

The four occupants had fled into the neighborhood. Additional deputies arrived, and a perimeter was set. After a house-to-house search with the assistance of a sheriff’s helicopter and a K-9 unit, all four suspects were arrested.

Deputies found stolen property inside the Suburban that was tied to burglary victims in both Thousand Oaks and Camarillo. All four suspects were booked at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility in Ventura for possession of stolen property, grand theft auto, and committing a crime for the benefit of a criminal street gang.

All four men are associated with the Oxnard-based criminal street gang, South Side Chiques. Two of the men are currently under a court injunction that was filed against specific members of the gang by the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office.
