Deputies find body of homicide victim

Sheriff’s deputies found the body of an unidentified man in a field on the southern edge of Camarillo early Thursday morning. The identity of the victim is not yet known, but investigators have determined the man’s death was the result of a homicide, as he appeared to have suffered a gunshot wound.

Two deputies from the Camarillo Police Department were patrolling the area of East Pleasant Valley Road when they found the body of a young man lying near the edge of roadway at 2:33 a.m.

Homicide detectives are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.
