Brandishing Weapon

On July 26, 2009, at approximately 11:39 am, officers responded to a apartment located in the 400 block of Ojai Road following up on a report of a brandishing. The victim had reported he had an argument with a subject, later identified as Anthony Aguirre, age 23 of Ventura. During the argument Aguirre removed a shotgun from his waistband and pointed it at the victim.

Upon arrival at the apartment officers observed Aguirre leaving the rear of the residence. Officers then took Aguirre into custody. Additional subjects did come out of residence however they were refusing to cooperate with officers on scene and mutual aid was requested. Officers from California Highway Patrol as well as Ventura County Sheriffs Department responded to assist. In the area at the time was a Ventura County Sheriffs Department helicopter who also assisted. Once those subjects were removed a search of the residence was conducted. The search revealed Martin Pulido, age 42 of Oakview on active parole for possession of a controlled substance for sales, hiding underneath a bed. Recovered in the residence was a loaded sawed-off shotgun, a .32 caliber handgun, ammunition for both weapons, and syringes used for ingesting illegal controlled substances. The victim, who was on scene, identified Aguirre as the suspect who brandished the shotgun at him. The victim also said just prior to officers arrival Aguirre had brandished the shotgun a second time.

Aguirre was transported to the Ventura County Main Jail on the following charges: brandishing a firearm, convicted felon in possession of a firearm, convicted felon in possession of ammunition. Aguirre also had two active felony warrants for assault with a deadly weapon and possession of stolen property. Pulido was transported on a parole violation, convicted felon in possession of a firearm and convicted felon in possession of ammunition.
