Assault with a Deadly Weapon Arrest

On March 1, 2011, Sheriff’s deputies responded to Pleasant Valley Hospital in reference to a patient seeking treatment for a stab wound. Deputies learned the juvenile victim had sustained wounds requiring immediate medical attention. Deputies located the crime scene near the Lamplighter Mobile Home Park in the City of Camarillo.

Detectives from the Camarillo Investigation Bureau also responded to assist with the investigation. Detectives identified (A) Gerardo Simon Mares as the suspect. Mares was subsequently arrested for violation of PC 245(a)(1) / Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

As the investigation continued, Camarillo detectives discovered information indicating Mares’ mother, (A) Sandra Garcia Mares aided her son after the crime. She was arrested for violating PC 32 / Accessory after the crime.
