Assault with a Deadly Weapon Arrest

On 6-7-2010, at approximately 6:30 p.m., Sheriff’s Dispatch received several 9-1-1 calls reporting 2-3 shots fired in the 200 block of Mobil Avenue in Camarillo. Witnesses reported seeing the suspect fire a handgun at an occupied vehicle that left the area. Deputies from the Camarillo Police Department responded and were on scene within a few minutes. In addition, several K9 units and the Sheriff’s Air Unit assisted as the suspect, still armed with a handgun, had fled the scene on foot.

A short time later, the suspect was located in a drainage ditch and taken into custody a few blocks away. Deputies recovered a handgun along with shell casings that were located near where the initial call was reported. At this time, no injuries have been reported and the investigation is continuing. The suspect was booked at the Juvenile Justice Center in Oxnard on an assault with a deadly weapon charge.
