Arrest of Shooting Suspect

 Santa Paula Police Department On Friday, 9/20/13, at approximately 1855 hours, SPPD Officers responded to the 1200 block of Say Road for a report of shots fired. Later that same evening, on 9/21/13 at approximately 0135 hours, SPPD Officers responded to the 500 block of Sycamore Street, again for a report of shots fired. No one was found to be injured during both incidents however; officers located multiple shell casings and items struck by the rounds fired. During the investigation of these two calls Patrol Officers, Detectives, and Gang Officers from the Santa Paula Police Department found the incidents to be related and were able to piece together information resulting in a probable cause want being issued for the arrest of Alberto Perez and a search warrant being issued for Perez’s residence. On 9/22/13 at approximately 0450 hours, less than 34 hours after the first shots fired call, officers from the Santa Paula Police Department’s SWAT Team executed a search warrant at Perez’s residence. Perez was not initially located at the residence however Detectives from the Santa Paula Police Department located evidence tying Perez to a Santa Paula criminal street gang. On 9/23/13 at approximately 1056 hours, Perez appeared in court on an unrelated probation violation. While in court Perez was detained by VCSO Deputies until an officer from the Santa Paula Police Department arrived to take him into custody, approximately 64 hours from the first shots fired call. Perez was arrested by Santa Paula Police Department, after questioning Perez was booked into Ventura County Main Jail on suspicion of 664/187 PC; Attempted Homicide. Nature of Incident: |
