Onesimo “Ony” Cervantez (1934-2018)

Onesimo “Ony” Cervantez was born February 16, 1934 and was taken from his loving family June 3, 2018. He was 84 years young. He was born and lived his entire life in Fillmore. He graduated from Fillmore High School, Class of 1954. He was inducted into the U.S. Army to serve his country in the Korean War on March 1955, and was a Field Communications Crewman. He was honorably discharge in 1957.
Ony retired from General Motors after 35 years of service as a repairman. His main hobbies were hunting and fishing with his son, Raymond, and his brothers, nephews and good friends. Those trips will never be forgotten.
Ony is preceded in death by his parents, Gumesindo and Maria R. Cervantez Zuno and sister Lupe Rizo and sister-in-law Gloria Cervantez. Ony is survived by his two sons: Raymond (Nancy) of Fillmore, and Robert of Sherman oaks: step-father, Salvador (Chuy) Zuno, brothers: Joe (Marlene), Pete (Emily), Tony (Rosie), Tory Frank and sister Georgia (Joe Cabral) all of Fillmore. Grandchildren, Kelly (Dori) Brown, Casey (Anne) Brown and 5 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside service will be held at Bardsdale Cemetery, Monday, June 11, 2018 at 10:00 a.m.
