Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger today issued the following statement regarding the death of Lance Cpl. Randy R. Braggs of Sierra Vista, AZ:

“Lance Corporal Randy Braggs devoted his life to serving our country with courage, pride and honor. He answered a noble calling for which he deserves our deepest gratitude. On behalf of all Californians, Maria and I extend our thoughts and prayers to Randy’s family, friends and fellow Marines during their time of mourning.”

Braggs, 21, died November 6 while conducting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan. He was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, CA.

In honor of Lance Cpl. Braggs, Capitol flags will be flown at half-staff.
