Maureen Jay Carroll (June 1947 – August 2025)

Maureen Jay Carroll passed away peacefully at her home with her granddaughter, Christina, and loved ones by her side on August 22, 2025. She was born on June 19, 1947, to Arthur P. and Ruth Dalzell in South Gate, California. She attended South Gate High School, graduated from UCI Irvine College, and received her teaching degree. She married the love of her life, Steven Ray Carroll on July 13, 1968, and shared 53 wonderful years of marriage before Steve’s passing in February 2022. They moved to Ventura, California in 1980 where they raised their two sons Robb and Chad. Maureen had a fulfilling teaching career at San Cayetano Elementary School in Fillmore, California. There she was a beloved Kindergarten teacher where she demonstrated her love for teaching and made learning come alive for her students. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. For several years, Maureen courageously battled Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). No matter how hard the disease affected her, she never let it consume her and she tried to live her life to the best of her ability. She is survived by her two sons, Robb Carroll (Katie) of Minnesota, and Chad Carroll of Camarillo, several grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Maureen will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts. A reception to celebrate her life is scheduled for Monday, September 22, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. It will be held in the Garden House at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park and Funeral Home in Ventura where her ashes will be placed next to her beloved husband’s.
