Lupe Ybarra (February 1932 – November 2025)

Guadalupe “Lupe” Sanchez Ybarra was born on February 20th, 1932, on the Limoneira Ranch in Santa Paula to Aurelio and Soledad Ybarra. The family moved to Fillmore where he attended Mountain View Elementary School and graduated from Fillmore High School in 1951. He joined the Army and served during the Korean Conflict. He married the love of his life Rosalind Moreno in 1956 and had 5 children. Lupe played the trumpet for the Fillmore High School band and joined a group that played for various parties and events. He loved Jazz and Dave Brubeck was one of his favorites. He was also a sports fanatic and loved the Los Angeles teams. His love for sports led him to coaching Little League and Girls Softball. He was a welder by trade but worked a variety of jobs one being a janitor for the Piru School during his career. He loved going to the Chumash, working his scratchers, and doing crossword puzzles. His work ethic taught his children to work hard at whatever career was chosen and encouraged all to get an education
He was so happy to see the Dodgers win back-to-back championships; his smile was electric. We want to Thank Nieces Odi Martinez, Diana Meraz and Therese Touchette for always being there for Dad. We also want to Thank All the Caregivers at the Ventura Villa where he spent his final days. They treated him and us like family and took such good care of him.
Services are as follows: There will be a Rosary recited at 10:00 a.m. and a mass of Christian Burial at 10:30am, at San Salvador Church, 4041 Center Street, Piru, CA. Burial to follow at Piru Cemetery, 3580 Center Street, Piru, CA.
