To The Editor:
Regarding the Owens and Minor financing arrangement:
One of our local Service Clubs has what they call the "Four Way Test". Is it the TRUTH? No- Fail. 2. Is it FAIR to all concerned? No- Fail. 3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS? No- Fail. 4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned. No- Fail. Four out of four failures. How can this be good?
Even though the details are different, recent news about officials from the city of Bell come to mind. As far as ill gotten financial gains to benefit a few at the expense of many.
Is the short term financial gain worth the loss of credibility and respect for Fillmore?
At San Cayetano School they are teaching 'Character Counts'. Our former city officials seem to be practicing the exact opposite.
If this had been a just and equitable business transaction it is unlikely that any legal action would have been taken. Just because some judge decided in favor of Fillmore doesn't make it right. All too often the person with the highest paid lawyer wins. What is right, honest, just and beneficial to all concerned has no bearing on the final judicial outcome.
Maybe it is a good thing those who put this arrangement together are no longer leading the City of Fillmore down the road to moral bankruptcy.
