To the Editor:
I request additional word count this week to first respond to two sentences in your political statement last week: First, “as for reintroduction of the draft, I’m all for it.” Nothing you have ever said has caused me pain until that heartbreaking endorsement. Please, tell me why you are “all for it.” Did you give a single thought to what that means to our young men and their families that we know – or don’t? Especially in light of Trump’s enthrallment with Conquests of Choice? This is what your “Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” meant when he said, “Blessed are the Peacemakers”? Martin, war is what the Marian Apparitions warned against.
Second, “as for Trump’s ‘luxurious lifestyle’ – He’s a billionaire! Do you know any humble billionaires?” The rest of my sentence said, “luxurious lifestyle and grifts.” How is it, Martin, in a paragraph reporting the suffering of people under a bad economy, you thought defense of imperious billionaires was the compelling issue?
I was initially edified that Republican Senators Cornyn and Tillis who, denied reelection by Trump’s Primary disavowal, momentarily discarded their servile Party posture and demanded formal, written acknowledgement that the horrendous $1.8 billion Slush Fund/ IRS Fraud Pass agreements are truly “dead.” But they soon bought off on a “new” agreement, still signed only by Blanche, saying the Slush Fund is “dead,” but keeping the IRS Fraud Pass. It was just another pseudo-virtuous scam/joke that wouldn’t fool a first-year law student.
Blanche again bound only himself, not his Plaintiff Client Trump, or Defendant Client Trump (DOJ, IRS). The full-Senate vote accepted both “deals” (50-49). Trump and family can now commit IRS tax fraud at will, and restoration of the Slush Fund is inevitable. It was a card trick to fool the overwhelmed public; nothing changed. Cornyn, and Tillis, and the Republican Senate, bent their knees to this monstrous legislative gift to Trump of our tax dollars and permission for IRS fraud, or are really, really bad lawyers. Another Republican Senate Profile in No-Courage. The last holdout for Trump’s Slush Fund/IRS Fraud Pass scam, and vote for Blanche’s AG confirmation, was Senator Bill Cassidy (R-LA), another Trump Primary victim. When he folded, the AG confirmation essentially endorsed all Trump’s and Blanche’s malfeasance, including Epstein. Rather than vote the interests of the American People, Cassidy whined (literally), “I’ll be criticized no matter what I do….it could be somebody worse [than Blanche].” Candidates for Junior High Class Treasurer have higher commitment.
My limited experience in finance makes my opinions on economics nearly worthless. I have to quote respected sources, in this case Britain’s generally conservative The Telegraph. (I’m within quotable limits for prose, Martin.) “The ingredients for some sort of American financial crisis are falling into place, disguised for now – but also compounded – by the AI bubble. The global market no longer has full faith in the management of the US treasury and the Fed.
“The US has stopped upholding free trade and open navigation, switching sides to become the chief instigator of piracy and world disorder. It has squandered much of its arsenal on an ill-planned war that it cannot end without accepting humiliation and that has shown the US to be a weaker military power than we all thought. It has further wrecked US alliances,” which has largely benefitted China. “The disaster is nearly complete. Now we await the US mid-term elections.”
Iran is attempting to further isolate the US from Free World. Last Saturday, it publicized its six demands of the US to open Hormuz, which include US military removal from Hormuz, and vast reparations. No mention was made of nuclear talks.
This is what happens when you misuse the mightiest military as a plaything, and – without allies – attack powers that will call your bluff because the administration of an oil-based economy (Trump seems to not have considered that) is arrogant, threatens with annihilation, and misjudged their culture and resolve. Heedless to the fact that his own country is in danger.
