Larry N. Alvarado (1948 - 2010)

Larry N. Alvarado, 62, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010. He was born on Jan. 12, 1948, in Santa Paula, CA, to Nicolas and Dominga (Sanchez) Alvarado. Larry graduated from Fillmore High School in 1966 and later received his Associate Degree. Larry served in the U.S. Army from April 9, 1968, until he was Honorably discharged from active duty on April 8, 1970. He continued serving in the U.S. Army Reserves until April 8, 1974. After returning from serving his country Larry worked for General Motors in Van Nuys before transferring to GMAD in Janesville, WI, where he worked for 18 years. Larry was a supervisor at GMAD, retiring in 2006 after 37 years of employment. Larry enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, outdoor BBQ's and working outside in his yard.
He is survived by his wife, Armida of Janesville; five children: Mark (Lisa) Alvarado, Jon (Itza) Alvarado, Nicole (Drew) Alvarado-Morton, Hugo Cardenas, and Michael Alvarado; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his mother, Dominga Alvarado; sisters Antonia, Cecilia, Mary Lou and Becki as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Nicolas Alvarado and his brother Ruben Sanchez.
Friends are welcome to attend the memorial services which will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 13, 2010, at Our Lady of the Assumption church in Ventura.
