In Loving Memory Kassaundra Leigh Chambers (February 1970 – October 2026)
Kassaundra Leigh Chambers, lovingly known as Kassie, passed away on October 1, 2026, in Fillmore, California, at the age of 56.
Kassie was born on February 23, 1970, in Beeville, Texas, to Ken and Dawn Jones. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, teacher, and friend whose vibrant personality and unforgettable sense of humor left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Kassie is survived by her beloved husband, Bill Chambers; her daughters, Meagan Chambers, Macie Chambers, and Kellyn Lopez and her husband, Arthur Lopez; and her son, Kenneth Chambers. She was a proud grandmother to Mae Bonds, Chanel Cordova, Romeo Castillo, and Daphne Lopez. She is also survived by her father and stepmother, Ken and Nancy Jones, and her sister, Christina Askins and her husband, Chris Askins; her nephews Tyson Thull and Rylan Askins; and her niece Carys Askins.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Dawn Jones.
Kassie found great purpose in teaching, especially in helping children discover the joy and confidence that comes from learning to read. She loved being a teacher and had a special gift for connecting with children and making a difference in their lives.
She was also passionate about community theater and cherished the time she spent performing and being part of the theater community. Kassie brought her larger-than-life personality to everything she did. She loved ‘80s hair band music—especially Def Leppard—and never shied away from making a statement. She was fashionable, loved big hair and dramatic makeup, and had a style and presence that were unmistakably her own.
Those who knew Kassie will remember her big personality, her fierce spirit, her quick wit, and her wicked sense of humor. She had a way of making people laugh and a presence that could never be overlooked. She lived life with personality, passion, and plenty of flair.
Kassie will be deeply missed by her family, friends, former students, and all those whose lives she touched. Her laughter, humor, love, and unforgettable spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
A celebration of life will be held on October 17, at Faith Community Church in Fillmore, CA, at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Kassie’s name to Sespe Players Community Theater or the Fillmore Library.
