John Joseph McKinnon

John Joseph McKinnon passed away peacefully, at home, lovingly surrounded by his family, on Sept. 9, 2008.
John was born in Dorchester, MA. He and his family moved to California, and settled in Fillmore, which he loved, 28 years ago.

John will lovingly be remembered as a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.
John is survived by his wife of 53 years, Lorraine and their seven children: Joanne Peddell (spouse Alex), Catherine McKinnon, John Daniel McKinnon, Ellie Davison, Arlene Daniels, Stephen McKinnon and Lauren Vigil (spouse Paul); 19 loving grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; goddaughter Julie Welch; sisters Ann Simmons and Marie Curtis; and numerous nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his father John Joseph McKinnon, his mother Mary McKinnon, and his sisters Patricia and Margaret.

Anyone who knew John knew that they would be greeted by a huge smile, a hearty handshake and an Irish joke.
John was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and as anyone who knew John can imagine, his favorite calling in the church was official greeter.

Services will be held Monday, September 15, 2008, 10 a.m., Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1017 First St. Fillmore, Ca.

Uncle Johnny you will be

Uncle Johnny you will be missed> I recall taking a trip out to Cali with my cousin Matty and having a great time with Johnny including going up in a small plane out of John Wayne Airport.

I remember going out to

I remember going out to California with my Aunt Patricia and Grandma May to visit Uncle Johnny, there are too many funny stories to mention. One time he came out to Scituate, my mom, Marie, and I went with all the kids to visit. He had all of the little kids running around the beach trying to find shells. I told him what a gift he had to organize the children and get them so motivated! Then I found out that he told all the kids that I, Ann Marie, was going to give the kids a nickel for every shell they could find.

If God could make one

If God could make one brother i was the fortunate one to have him.

Love always,
Your sister Ann
