James W. Whitman, Sr. passed away quietly in his sleep on January 21, 2009 after a long battle with lung cancer. He was 74 years old. James is survived by his wife of 47 years Linda, five children and their spouses James (Jill), Stephen (Lynn), Terry (Steve), Jean (Adrian), and Chrissy, five grandchildren, Phillip James, Shaughn, Kellie, Nathan & Adam, and his mother Naomi.
James and his wife Linda have resided in Fillmore for the last five years, following Linda's retirement from CHP in 2003. They lived in the Northeast Los Angeles/ Glendale area for the other 42 years of their marriage where they raised their five beautiful children.
Services to be held at The Church of the Recessional, at Forest Lawn Glendale in Glendale, Ca. January 31, 2009 at 12 noon. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Jim's name to the American Cancer Society.
