Helen A. Martinez of Fillmore, CA peacefully passed away surrounded by her family and friends on June 17, 2023. She was born in El Paso, Tx. July 31, 1928 to Francisco and Maria Armendariz. She met and married Edward Martinez on September 1st and spent 62 years living in Piru and Fillmore with their 7 sons. Helen was a constant presence in the catholic church teaching catechism, she was a devoted wife and mother, loved her grandkids and being with friends. Briefly she worked in the Fillmore and Piru packing house. We always knew that beans would be a constant staple in her home or how mad she was that day by how hot her chili con carne was.
Helen is proceeded in death by her husband Edward, sons Edward Jr, Johnny, Robert, Kenny, and grandson Vince Martinez Jr. She is survived by her sons Vince Martinez (wife Chris) of El Monte, Adrian (wife Marisa) of Fillmore, and Marc (wife Stella) of Fillmore. Fifteen grandkids, 33 great grandkids, and 14 great-great grandkids. We are comforted in knowing that she is in a better place with the family that is waiting for her in heaven. “If the people we love are stolen from us, the way to have them live on is to never stop loving them”…we will miss you terribly…until we see you again!
A Rosary will be recited at 9:30a.m. on Monday, July 10, 2023 with a Memorial Mass to follow at 10:00a.m. at St. Francis Of Assisi Church, 1048 W. Ventura St. Fillmore, CA. 93015. Interment to follow at Bardsdale Cemetery, 1698 S Sespe St. Fillmore, CA. 93015.
