On Tuesday, December 2, at approximately 1:14 p.m., Fillmore Police Department, Fillmore City Fire, and AMR Paramedics were dispatched to a reported traffic collision on Central Avenue and First Street, in front of Fillmore High School. On Saturday, November 22, at 7:20 p.m., Ventura County Sheriff’s Deputies conducted a traffic stop in front of Vons Market. Deputies were seen handcuffing the driver who was arrested for being under the influence of a controlled substance, a violation of HS 11550(a). Subject was in possession of a controlled substance, stolen credit cards, and stolen mail, a violation of HS 11377(a), PC 666.1, and PC 530.5(e).

This year’s annual Fillmore Community Holiday Giveaway will be held Saturday, December 12th, from 9 AM – 12 PM at the City of Fillmore Fire Station, 711 Landeros Lane. If a child has a disability, they may register to participate on Friday evening, pre-registration is required for Friday evening. The Fillmore Community Holiday Giveaway is the annual event where holiday commodities are given to the children who reside within the Fillmore Unified School District boundaries. Commodities given will be age-appropriate toys, new jackets/coats, reading books and socks. As is customary, a holiday bag of groceries will also be available for each family while supplies last. Santa Claus will be available for a picture with each child. As a reminder, this event is only for children who reside within the Fillmore Unified School District boundaries, you must provide proof of residency within the School District such as a utility bill, report card or driver’s license.

Perce’s Kenpo Karate owner/instructor Sifu Paul Perce (right) was promoted to 9th degree black belt on November 22 in Fillmore by 10th degree black belt Sifu Jesus Flores (left) from Flores Bros., Kenpo Karate studio in Oxnard. Paul has been training for over 43 years in American Kenpo Karate. January will be his 30th year of owning and teaching at his studio in Fillmore. Paul teaches Kenpo Karate, Kickboxing, Kali, Jiu-Jitsu at Perce’s Kenpo Karate, 515 W. Ventura Street, Suite A, Fillmore. On January 10, 2026, from noon to 2pm, he will be holding an open house to celebrate his 30th year in business in Fillmore--there will be a brief self-defense demonstration. The Fillmore Roping Club held an event at the Fillmore Equestrian Center, 338 Chambersburg Road, on Friday, November 28th. The club provides Team Roping practices and competitive ACTRA Ropings throughout the year.

On 10/30/2025, at about 9:13 AM, deputies from the Fillmore Station responded to the 200 block of E. Telegraph Road in Fillmore reference an assault with a deadly weapon which had just occurred. Within an hour, the suspect (Juan Saucedo) was identified, located, and arrested with the assistance of several resources from the Sheriff’s Office.
Following the suspect’s arrest, the Fillmore Detective Unit obtained a search warrant for the residence where the crime had occurred, located in the 200 block of E. Telegraph Road in Fillmore. During the warrant service, detectives located a .357 revolver which was registered to a party living out of the area.
After an investigation into the firearm, detectives determined convicted felon and Fillmore resident, (S) Jesus Alvarez unlawfully possessed the firearm, in violation of Penal Code § 29800(a)(1) – [Felon in Possession of a Firearm]. Alvarez lived at the residence, but was not home at the time of the warrant service.
On 11/13/2025, during the morning hours, personnel from the Fillmore Detective Unit and Fillmore patrol conducted an enforcement stop on Alvarez and arrested him for the offense. He was transported and booked at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility pending court proceedings. Later that evening, Alvarez was released on bond with a court date of 11/26/2025.
