Two Spot Fires in Piru
On Sunday, May 3, at approximately 6:00 a.m., there were multiple reports of a fire in the area of Center Street, Piru. Ventura County Fire was dispatched and found approximately two spot fires, each 100’x100’ moving at a slow rate of spread underneath power lines. A brush response was requested including LA County Fire, Ventura County Fire, Ventura County Sheriff’s Department, and the California Conservation Corps. Units on-scene noticed power lines down in the area and performed proper mitigation. They were able to make good headway and knock-down the fire by approximately 8:30 a.m. and stayed on-scene to mop up the fire.
