Second Homeless Encampment Fire in Four Months
On Wednesday, July 20th, 2022, at 9:24pm, Fillmore City Fire Department and Ventura County Fire were dispatched to a reported brush fire in the Santa Clara Riverbed not far from SR23 (A Street) Bridge, Fillmore. Arriving firefighters reported a small fire in the riverbed next to a homeless encampment; the fire was sized as a 20’ by 20’ spot. Firefighters were able to knockdown the fire before 10pm. No injuries were reported at the time. A fire investigator was dispatched to the scene. Cause of the fire is under investigation.
