Free Vegetation & Trash Disposal Day, Saturday, September 30th

The Fillmore Fire Department would like to remind all residents that the annual hot dry Santa Ana winds are quickly approaching. These winds can carry hot embers for very long distances. The Fire Department is encouraging everyone to evaluate their properties/yards for any hazardous vegetation and/or trash that may be present and remove the hazard. Besides trash this vegetation may be dry grass or brush, broken limbs on trees, or any flammable ornamental species often found growing around homes. To help facilitate the disposal of these hazards, the Fire Department is having a free drop off disposal day. All residents of Fillmore are encouraged to take advantage of this free opportunity.
On Saturday, September 30th, from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM, all residents in the city may haul any trash, tree/brush trimmings direct to the Fillmore City Well #4 location at 728 Goodenough Rd. for free disposal. Any ornamental vegetation will also be accepted if it is free of any metal, plastic, or other trash. Separate piles of trash will be accepted if it is not mixed with vegetation.

Residents are especially encouraged to trim up palm trees by professional tree trimmers. Dead palm fronds can be especially hazardous when caught on fire, palm fronds will be accepted.
Any questions may be directed to the Fillmore Fire Chief at 524-1500 xt 226.
