On Saturday, April 18th, several Fillmore track athletes competed at the 106th annual Carpinteria Russell Cup.
The Varsity Boys 4 X 100-meter relay finished second in a season best time of 43.54. Team members were Joshua Felix, Saul Fraga-Sandoval, Jasiah Patterson, and Nathan Hernandez. This team broke their own School Recird and they were medal winners.
In the Varsity Girls 1600 Meter run, Camila Rodriguez ran a very competitive race and finished second in a personal best time of 5:05.65. Camila was a medal winner. In the Varsity Boys 1600-meter run, Damian Santa Rosa finished 2nd in heat 2. He posted a personal best time of 4:43.06.
In the Frosh/Soph 400-meter run Orlando Vigil Tello finished 20th in a time of 58.13. In the Varsity Girls 400-meter run, Delilah Lupercio finished 17th in 66.19, and Andrea Gamez finished 18th in 68.02. Both Delilah and Andrea ran personal best times.
In the Boys Frosh/Soph 100-meter dash, Draco Centurion place 10th in a personal best of 11.93. He was followed by Nathan Lepe 24th in 12.50. In the Varsity boys 100-meters, Saul Fraga-Sandoval placed 1st in 10.84. He was followed by Jasiah Patterson 19th in 11.73, and Joshua Felix (22nd in 11.82). Saul was a medal winner, and awarded a special trophy, the Frank Wyckoff Trophy for winning the Varsity Boys 100.
In the Girls Varsity 100-meter run Kimberly Magana was (3rd in 12.55). She was followed by Janessa Corona (10th in 13.21). Kimberly was a medal winner in this event.
In the Frosh/Soph girls 800-meter run, freshman Gabriela Lopez placed 19th in 2:54.93.
In the Frosh/Soph boys 3200-meter run, Nikolias Cerda place 14th in a personal best time of 11:21.51.
In the Varsity girls 3200-meter run, Camila Rodriguez came away with a victory. Her winning time of 11:03.41 was a personal best mark in this race. She was followed by Melanie Flores 8th in 13:32.75, and Michelle Setty 9th in a personal best time of 13:37.83. Camila was a medal winner in this event.
In the Boys Frosh/Soph Shot Put, Nathaniel Tafoya placed (15th in 34’ 4.24”). He was followed by Elija Prado (17th in 33’ 07”), and Joseph Aguilar (18th in 33’ 04”).
In the Boys Varsity Shot Put, Isaac Rivera placed (6th with a put of 42’ 8.75”). He was followed by Marcus Lechuga (12th in 39’ 1”).
In the Girls Frosh/Soph shot put, Lucy Murrillo was (2nd in 28’ 00.50”). She was followed by Desiree Marrufo (7th in 23’ 6.25”), and Sophia Rivera (11th in 20’ 09.25”). Lucy was a medal winner.
In the Girls Varsity shot put, Hermelinda Ocegueda was (4th in 31’ 11.25”. She was followed by Adrianna Deleon (5th in 30’ 4.5”), and Emily Soltero (13th in 26’ 01.50). Hermelinda was a medal winner.
In the Boys Frosh/Soph discus, Nathaniel Tafoya placed (3rd with a toss of 104’ 09”). Elijah Prado was (18th in 67’ 01”). Nathaniel had a personal best mark and was a medal winner.
In the Boys Varsity discus, Isaac Rivera claimed (1st place with a toss of 131’ 11”). He was followed by Isaiah Meza (8th in 117’ 08”), and Marcus Lechuga (12th in 108’ 10”). Isaac was a medal winner.
In the Girls Frosh/Soph Discus, Lucy Murrillo captured 1st place with a throw of 86’ 01”. She was followed by Desiree Marrufo (6th in 75’ 01”), and Sophia Rivera (7th in 65’ 00”). Lucy was a medal winner.
In the Girls Varsity Discus, Adrianna Deleon placed (4th with a toss of 97’ 06”). She was followed by Hermelinda Ocegueda (7th in 93’ 04”), and Emily Soltero (12th in 83’ 03”). Adrianna was a medal winner.
In the Girls Varsity Triple Jump, Delilah Lupercio placed 6th with a jump of 29’ 07”.
In the Boys Varsity Triple Jump, Jasiah Patterson was 4th with a leap of 37’ 09.5”. Jasiah was a medal winner.
In the Girls Varsity Long Jump, Janessa Corona placed 4th, leaping 14’ 09”. She was a medal winner.
In the Boys Varsity Long Jump, Saul Fraga Sandoval placed 3rd, leaping 21’ 03.5”. He was a medal winner.
