Fillmore Residence Attend Fracking Meeting

A meeting of citizens concerned about the proposal by the State of California to remove a Sespe aquifer from the Safe Drinking Water Act was held at 421 Sespe Ave. last Saturday. The meeting was attended by approximately 40 persons. The aquifer is not presently used for city drinking water but is approximately two miles from the city’s main aquifer. This is an area into wishes to extend its activity, which would include the process of fracking. Many Fillmore citizens fear that this process (forcing water down into oil deposits) could cause leakage into our aquifers, contaminating the water, which could not be purified.
