The California Highway Patrol (CHP) Ventura, Moorpark and Newhall Areas, in partnership with Fillmore and Santa Paula Police Departments, will be conducting targeted enforcement operations on SR-126, to enhance roadway safety and reduce traffic-related incidents.
The 40-mile stretch of SR-126 that connects US-101 in Ventura, to 1-5 in Santa Clarita, has experienced a concerning number of fatal and serious injury crashes. Through high-visibility enforcement, the CHP and its partners, aim to reduce these incidents and promote safer driving practices for all motorists. The operation will focus on identifying and addressing speeding, distracted driving, unsafe lane changes and driving under the influence violations, all of which are primary causes of crashes. Officers and deputies will be strategically deployed throughout the corridor to ensure compliance with traffic laws and to deter dangerous driving behaviors.
The goal of this collaborative effort is to save lives and ensure everyone reaches their destination safely.
Motorists are reminded to:

• Avoid distractions while driving
• Always wear a seatbelt
• Never drive under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs
• Maintain a safe following distance
Be a courteous and defensive driver
