“Avoid the 14” DUI and Drivers License Checkpoint
On Saturday, January 02, 2010, members of the Fillmore Police Department conducted a multi-agency sobriety and driver’s license checkpoint on Ventura Street (SR 126) at C Street. The checkpoint was conducted as part of a campaign called “Avoid the 14,” which is a cooperative agreement between the fourteen law enforcement agencies within Ventura County that are participating in a grant obtained by the Oxnard Police Department from the State of California’s Office of Traffic Safety.

The checkpoint was held between 6 pm and 2 am with the assistance of personnel from Oxnard Police Department; Ventura Police Department; Simi Valley Police Department; Santa Paula Police Department, and Port Hueneme Police Department. 

1087 motorists passed through the checkpoint and were contacted by law enforcement personnel. Two were found to be driving under the influence of alcohol, 1 was driving under the influence of drugs, and 16 were found to be driving without a license or on a suspended or revoked driver’s license.  Eight vehicles were impounded/towed.
