STUDENT INFORMATION

1. A HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who helped to make Pride In America Day such a success and a special thank you to Mrs. Merrill for being the coordinator for this excellent event. Your dedication is truly appreciated!
2. SCHOOL RULES – FMS students are not allowed on any other school campuses before or after school.
3. PIRU SCHOOL is looking for student volunteers to help with their Dance Festival on Friday, 5/29 starting at 6:00 p.m. If you wish to help, call Piru School at 521-1709.
4. MENTOR PROGRAM – Any students that are interested in attending the Bluez Boyz concert on June 14 may pick up a permission slip in the mentor room during break or lunch.
5. POETRY SLAM – Attention all 7th & 8th graders who competed in the finals of the 6th grade poetry slam last year or the year before! You are invited to attend the 6th grade poetry slam on Friday, 5/29 during 1st & 2nd period. You need permission slips signed by your 1st & 2nd period teacher excusing you from their classes in order to attend. Please get the permission slip from the office and turn them in ASAP. If you would like to judge, please mark on the permission slip. The first 5 to get them in will be awarded the positions. If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Wohlers in room B-1 during your lunch or after school.
6. 8th GRADERS – Our 8th grade trip to Shiells Park is on Tuesday, 6/2. We will be walking over and spending the morning with food and fun activities. This trip is for promotion-eligible 8th graders. You must have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or above, all textbooks turned in and all money owed is paid back. This includes library & textbook fines, picture money, lock money and cafeteria money. The cost for this event is only $3.00! Get a permission slip from Mrs. Laureano or Mrs. DuBois. Bring the signed permission slip AND $3.00 to Mrs. DuBois next week. The last day to pay is Friday, 5/29.
7. 8th GRADE PROMOTION takes place on Thursday, 6/4 at 11:00 a.m. Students should dress appropriately as our dress code WILL BE ENFORCED. If you need a copy of the dress code, every teacher has copies in their classroom.
8. MIMIMUM DAYS - We will NOT have a late start on Wednesday, 6/3 the last week of school. School will start at 7:55 a.m. each of these days. Monday, 6/1 is a full day. Tuesday-Thursday, 6/2-6/4/09 are minimum days and school will be dismissed at 12:07 p.m.
9. YEARBOOK DISTRIBUTION takes place for 8th graders on Wednesday, 5/27 during 6th period and for 6th & 7th graders on Thursday, 5/28 during 6th period. Yearbooks will be on sale after school only to 8th graders on Wednesday, 5/27 and to all grades on Thursday, 5/28.
10. PARTY GRANDE HAWAIIAN STYLE – Our last dance of the year takes place on Friday, 5/29 from 5:30-8:30. Tickets are on sale during both lunches in the pavilion. The cost is $4.00 in advance and $5.00 at the door. We will have door prizes throughout the evening. Signed parent permission slip is required to attend.
11. ATTENTION 6th & 7th GRADERS – Now’s the time if you want to be in next year’s Yearbook class to come and get an application from Miss Beal in room K-3. We need hard-working students to be computer techs, photographers, sales leaders and treasurers. If you think this is you, see Miss Beal now. All applications are due to Miss Beal by TODAY.
12. EARTH DAY IS EVERY DAY – For more Information about cleaning up the beach see Kiana Hope and Anyssa Cabral.
13. TALENT SHOW – Students and staff who would like to participate in a fun event, please sign up for our 3rd annual talent show. The show is scheduled to take place June 3. If you have any questions, need more information, or a room to practice, please see Ms. Morielli in room G-1.
PARENT INFORMATION

1. 8th GRADE PROMOTION – Promotion takes place on Thursday, 6/4/09 starting at 11:00 a.m. Please keep in mind that this event is very well attended. Plan ahead. Parking is limited. Once our parking lot is full, you will need to park in the surrounding neighborhoods and walk into the school. Our ceremony will begin promptly at 11:00 a.m. so please plan accordingly.
