STUDENT INFORMATION
1. NO SCHOOL ON FRIDAY, November 11th! Veteran’s Day - World War I – known at the time as “The Great War” - officially ended when the Treaty of Versailles was signed on June 28, 1919, in the Palace of Versailles outside the town of Versailles, France. However, fighting ceased seven months earlier when an armistice, or temporary end of hostilities, between the Allied nations and Germany went into effect on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. For that reason, November 11, 1918, is generally regarded as the end of “the war to end all wars.”
2. SCHOOL RULES – Fighting or encouraging a fight will result in a 3-5 day suspension.
3. CITY YOUTH BASKETBALL INFO – 6th graders can sign up for City Youth basketball until tomorrow, Wednesday, 11/9. 7&8th graders will still be allowed to sign up through next week. Sign up at City Hall.
4. FMS PRIDE CLUB – Be sure to meet in room J-1 during 2nd lunch TOMORROW, 11/9. We will be taking a picture of all the club members!
5. COME ON OVER to the Masquerade dance! Bring your favorite mask and have a ball on November 18th from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Purchase your tickets during lunch; $3.00 in advance and $5.00 at the door.
6. CANNED FOOD DRIVE – Show how FMS cares; bring canned goods and other non-perishable food items to help the needy! Bring your food donations to your 1st period class. The class with the most donations wins a pizza party!
7. GIRLS BASKETBALL SIGN UPS now through Thursday, Nov. 10th. TRYOUTS will take place THIS Thursday, Nov. 10th from 3-5:30 p.m. Please note that this is a change in information!
8. BOYS BASKETBALL TRYOUTS will take place Nov. 14-17, 5:30-7:30 p.m.
9. 8th GRADERS – It’s your last year of being a bulldog. Make it last; put your baby picture in the 2012 yearbook! There are only 65 spots so get your baby picture to Miss Beal in K-3 before or after school. Write your name and 5th period teacher on the back of your photo. You may also email your photo to Miss Beal at: jbeal@fillmore.k12.ca.us.
PARENT INFORMATION
1. MARK YOUR CALENDARS – No school on Friday, November 11th – Veteran’s Day; Monday, November 21-25 – Local holidays and Thanksgiving holidays.
2. PARENTS – SIGN UP FOR PARENT CONNECTION for Zangle. See your student’s grades, attendance, class assignments. You may access the required form at our website: www.fillmore.k12.ca.us Click on the “For Parents” drop down, Zangle Parent Connection, Registration Form. Print and complete the form and have your student deliver it to the front office. Once processed you will receive a PIN number for accessing your student’s information.
