STUDENT INFORMATION
1. NEW ROTATION starts on Monday, 5/23. All students will start the day with period 1 and end the day with period 6.
2. SCHOOL RULES – If you have a new address or phone number, it is VERY IMPORTANT that you give the office your information. We will be mail a summer packet with important information for the next school year.
3. HIGH SCHOOL PEP SQUAD SIGN UPS – If you are interested in trying out for the 2011-12 Pep Squad, please sign up at the clipboard at Mrs. Lemons’ desk in the high school office. Practice – Monday through Thursday 5/23-5/26 in front of the high school. Tryouts are Friday, May 27th at 7 p.m. in the gym. Bring your permission slips on Monday. Wear comfortable shoes!
4. VETERANS FOR PEACE is sponsoring a Peace Poetry contest. Write a poem about Peace; any style is possible. One student from each grade level will win a $50 prize and will be recognized during the Pride In America assembly. Turn in your poems to your Language Arts teacher. The deadline is TODAY.
5. ALL VETERANS and/or active duty soldiers are invited to attend our Pride in America assembly on Friday, 5/27 at 10:00 a.m. in the gym. Please turn in their name and a short description of their service to our country to Mrs. Ecklund in the office or to your 1st period teacher.
6. YOUNG WRITERS WORKSHOP – If you are interested in a summer young writer’s workshop, pick up an application from Counselor Reyes. Cost is $245 but there are some scholarships available. Deadline is June 13th.
7. YEARBOOKS ARE HERE! They will be delivered to 8th graders during 4th period on Monday, May 23rd and they will be on sale after school Monday to 8th graders only. 6th & 7th graders will have yearbooks delivered on Wednesday, May 25th. Yearbooks will be on sale to all students on Wednesday. Cost is $50, cash only, no checks. Please do not come to Miss Beal’s room to ask to get yours early. They will not be handed out any earlier or on sale any earlier.
8. HIGH SCHOOL PEP SQUAD – If you are an 8th grader and interested in trying out for the high school pep squad, please sign up on the clipboard at Mrs. Lemons’ desk at the high school front office. More information will follow regarding tryouts.
9. LIFETOUCH PICTURES – Students who received their promotion and/or Spring pictures need to return the pictures, money due, or a combination of both to the office.
PARENT INFORMATION
1. PRIDE IN AMERICA DAY – Please see Mrs. Merrill in J-1 after school if you are interested in helping with Pride In America Day when we honor our local veterans. Or you may contact her via email at: lmerrill@fillmore.k12.ca.us This is a school-wide event so your help would be greatly appreciated. The committee could use your help with chaperoning rehearsals in the gym with decorations, activities and supervision.
2. PARENTS – SIGN UP FOR PARENT CONNECTION for Zangle. See your student’s grades, attendance, class assignments. Fill out the form at the following link and return it to the middle school office. http://www.fillmore.k12.ca.us/ Click on Fillmore Middle School, then click on Parent Connection. Once you fill out the form turn it in to the school and your request will be processed. Once processed, you will receive your PIN number via email.
3. 7TH -12TH GRADE STUDENTS are now required to get a whooping cough immunization (TDAP) before starting the 2011-2012 school year. Make an appointment now for your student(s) to receive this required vaccination.
