STUDENT INFORMATION

1. THE LIBRARY will be closed on Monday, 4/26 until 1:00 p.m. Please plan ahead!
2. SCHOOL RULES – Cell phones, IPODs, cameras, and other electronic device s are not allowed at Fillmore Middle School.
3. GATE MEETING on Thursday, April 29th to work on our writing contest, “What the Veteran Means to Me”. See you after school on Thursday, April 29th in room B-1.
4. 8th GRADE PARENTS – Interested in finding out what is going on in the high school before your child attends next year? A good place to start is at the High School Site Council meetings. You are welcome to come listen, learn and get a feel for the great things that are taking place at the high school. The next meeting is Monday, 4/26 at 4:30 p.m. at the high school. For exact room location or information regarding the site council, please call Katy Petuoglu at 432-8788.
5. ATTENTION ALL YOUTH who live in Piru or surrounding areas. There are free swimming lessons available to anyone who is interested. Please contact Norma Magana in the Mentor room during lunch to pick up an application. All lessons will take place after school or on Saturdays. A bus token will be provided. If you have any questions call Norma at (805) 910-9317 or Lynn at (805) 907-6576.
6. CURRENT 7th GRADE STUDENTS – Fillmore High School is proud to offer the UC Summer Writing Academy. The goal of this summer program is to help prepare for the many facets of writing regardless of your writing skills. You will also be provided tutoring, guest presentations, field trips and activities in Literature and Music. Please pick up an application from Mrs. Wyand if you are interested. There is limited space available.
7. CURRENT 8th GRADE STUDENTS – Fillmore High School is proud to offer the Summer Academic Advancement Academy. This intensive summer program will help prepare you for high school mathematics, academic success, and successful admission to college. This is also a great opportunity to earn 5 high school credits. See Mrs. Wyand for an application if you are interested. Space is limited.
8. ARE YOU A HARD WORKER? Do you have at least a 3.0? Do you like visiting colleges and universities? AVID is now accepting applications for next year! If you are a 6th or 7th grader and are interested in applying, please pick up an application from Miss Atwood in C-2 or Mrs. Wyand in the office. Applications are due April 30th at 3:00 p.m.
9. EARTH DAY IS EVERY DAY! Go green and use curly compact florescent light bulbs! Carlos Briceno & Daniel Oliva
10. ANY STUDENT interested in the 2010 Young Writers Camp offered at a variety of neighboring colleges this summer, please see Mrs. Wyand for more information and/or an application.

2. PARENTS ARE WELCOME here at Fillmore Middle School. If you wish to come on our campus, please be sure to sign in at the front office and get a visitor badge. We want you and your students to have a wonderful experience here at FMS!
