Reuters, an organization that over the years has published its share of canned mainstream media propaganda, recently headlined an article with the title: “Ratio of U.S. Youth Murders Committed by Guns Increasing: Study.” As with most such “news” stories, the articles’ title and opening paragraph was designed to grab your attention. The average overworked voter would likely accept the headline’s premise, because Reuters cited a recent weekly newsletter distributed by the Center for Disease Control (CDC).

In Islam the victim of rape is to blame, for she has sullied the family's honor by engaging in sexual immorality. The fact that it was forced upon her makes no difference at all.

We have seen a Muslim rape victim ostracized in India; the charging of a rape victim in Pakistan with adultery; Islamic clerics in Pakistan opposing attempts to end the equating of rape with adultery; a rape victim marrying her attacker in order to avoid being shunned; another rape victim converting to Islam in order to marry her attacker for the same reason; the sentencing of a victim of gang rape in Saudi Arabia to 200 lashes; the sentencing of another victim of gang-rape, a pregnant woman, to 100 lashes; the stoning of a rape victim in Somalia; nine-year-old rape victims in Iran rejected by their families and living on the streets; a Muslim rape victim in India ordered by Islamic clerics to leave her husband; a rape victim in Jordan murdered by her uncle to cleanse the family's honor; and on and on.

A young Norwegian woman has been sentenced to 16 months in jail after she reported a rape in Dubai.
The 25-year-old was in the United Arab Emirates on a business trip when she was raped and reported the assault to the local police.

Dubai police did not believe her, and instead took her passport and jailed her on suspicion of having had sex outside marriage.

CNN's Piers Morgan and conservative talk radio host Larry Elder had a heated debate Wednesday about the George Zimmerman trial and the prosecution's star witness Rachel Jeantel.

At one point during the exchange, Elder said to Morgan, "If she's one smart cookie, why don't you hire her as a co-host?

So this guy’s neighborhood has been burglarized off and on and the residents are very concerned for their safety and well-being. Neighbors agree to upkick their vigilance and overall level of awareness to watch out for each other and keep an eye out for suspicious individuals and behavior. It could be considered by an official designation such as “Neighborhood Watch”, but officially labeled or not, it is the purest form of Americans watching out for each other and being good neighbors.

So far so good.

So George Zimmerman sees what he believes is a suspicious individual in suspicious circumstances, and intelligently and responsibly pays attention and calls 9-1-1 to report what he sees to the officials. This gesture is proof positive he was not looking to do anyone harm or break any laws, but rather perform the fundamental responsibility of a neighbor who cares.

Two teenagers helped save a 5-year-old girl who was abducted while playing in her yard by chasing the abductor’s car for 15 minutes on their bikes.

Temar Boggs and his friend recognized Jocelyn Rojas in the backseat of a car after she was reported missing by her mother. The pair gave chase on their bikes for 15 minutes, according to the Daily Mail. The car eventually stopped and the girl was let out. Investigators are seeking the suspect, who sped off.

The girl reportedly ran into Boggs’ arms and said, “I need to see my mommy.”

JERUSALEM, Israel -- From the West Coast of Africa to the deserts of Sinai, Bedouin tribes are conducting a human trafficking trade on a massive scale.

It's no secret. The trade reaps millions of dollars and deals with human misery. It could be stopped but so far no one has dared.

They have been shot. Some watched their families gunned down. Others buried bullet ridden children.

They all oppose gun control.

You might think that being a victim – directly or indirectly – of mass murder from rampaging gunmen would cause a person to campaign for gun control. Though this happens, numerous victims take a careful look at their circumstances and the monsters they encountered. They ponder the shooter, they review the gun control laws in place when violence changed their lives – then they actively campaign against more gun control.

These are not people who can be written off as “gun nuts,” or mischaracterized by any other hateful invective label often used by the poorly educated or the spinmeisters of gun control. Nor do these victims invariably champion gun ownership. They have simply concluded, after careful consideration, that existing gun laws do not prevent massacres, new gun control proposals will not prevent future ones, and that in some cases gun control may have facilitated slaughter.

Muslims commit 91 percent of honor killings worldwide. A manual of Islamic law certified as a reliable guide to Sunni orthodoxy by Al-Azhar University, the most respected authority in Sunni Islam, says that "retaliation is obligatory against anyone who kills a human being purely intentionally and without right." However, "not subject to retaliation" is "a father or mother (or their fathers or mothers) for killing their offspring, or offspring's offspring." ('Umdat al-Salik o1.1-2). In other words, someone who kills his child incurs no legal penalty under Islamic law.

The Palestinian Authority gives pardons or suspended sentences for honor murders. Iraqi women have asked for tougher sentences for Islamic honor murderers, who get off lightly now. Syria in 2009 scrapped a law limiting the length of sentences for honor killings, but "the new law says a man can still benefit from extenuating circumstances in crimes of passion or honour 'provided he serves a prison term of no less than two years in the case of killing.'" And in 2003 the Jordanian Parliament voted down on Islamic grounds a provision designed to stiffen penalties for honor killings. Al-Jazeera reported that "Islamists and conservatives said the laws violated religious traditions and would destroy families and values."

In light of all this, until authorities get the courage to tell the truth about honor killing, there will be many more such murders.

What goes around, comes around.

A state budget "trailer bill" now awaiting Gov. Jerry Brown's signature would eviscerate the California Public Records Act, a long-standing "sunshine law" that allows the press and public to access most state and local government documents.

Journalists use the CPRA to uncover official malfeasance. The Los Angeles Times employed it, for example, to ferret out the outrageous self-dealing in the small city of Bell, resulting in criminal trials.

Capitol journalists, including those at The Bee, use it to seek documents from state agencies that self-protective officials may not want the public to see, such as The Bee's disclosures about funds being hidden in the Department of Parks and Recreation.

The trailer bill, Assembly Bill 76, is a catch-all of legal changes supposedly related to the budget.

Congress is trying to fool you.

Here’s how they do business. A piece of legislation is going to cost trillions of dollars, but Members of Congress don’t want the public to see that. Instead, they have the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) look at the bill for just the first 10 years—and they move any costly items off into the future on purpose.

They did it with Obamacare—saved the budget bombshells for later. Now they’re trying to do it with immigration.

Yesterday, the CBO released its score of the Gang of Eight’s immigration bill. Heritage experts are still analyzing the full report, but a few things jumped out immediately. The Gang of Eight bill:

•WILL NOT stop illegal immigration – Despite promises of a secure border, the bill would slow future illegal immigration by only 25 percent, according to the CBO. In the next couple of decades, that means 7.5 million new illegal immigrants.
•WILL drive down wages – For legal American workers, the CBO estimates the bill would drive down their average wages.
