Realities

A quick response to Kelly Scoles’ letter.
Hi again Kelly,
You bring up another very important issue, the purity of America’s food. This is not a new concern. You surely remember Upton Sinclair’s novel The Jungle which exposed the filthy conditions in the Chicago stockyards and the meatpacking industry. Sinclair’s book led to the passage of the Pure Food and Drug Act and the Meat Inspection Act of 1906.
Another close look at this same issue is needed at this time.
When you first brought up this issue last week, referring to “mystery meat” and South America, I thought you might be referring to Nutria, an herbivore often referred to as river rat, enjoyed by many.
Well, Kelly, I join you in condemning anyone who seeks to avoid our Pure Food and
Drug Acts. Let’s prompt Congress to take action!

I apologize for being too sleepy tonight to properly address your many issues. I went swimming yesterday evening and am still tired.

Hello Pat Collins,
I do not believe that measures taken to assure that the American vote is secure from fraud, and that any non-American citizen can vote is a bad thing. Demanding that everyone seeking to vote must show legitimate ID is just common sense. Non-Americans seeking to vote should face jail time.
