Hello everyone. Just a reminder that It’s always my intention to include letters to the editor as an essential part of the Gazette’s raison d’être. Only lack of space or emergencies would limit this policy. In all cases where a letter has to be bumped notice of that letter being published in full online is always provided.

Kelly Scoles’ letter runs this week. She complains that it did not run last week, but no letters were received last week.

Kelly, your letter is running this week. However I have little time to respond, other than to say I have never suggested that Americans should be prepared to “crumble in fear and hopelessness.” Nor do I ever suggest Americans “roll over in grief or disbelief and abandon ourselves to hopes that heaven will save us” though it certainly can. What you describe here are cowards of the Liberal sort, typically Democrat. As an atheist you might be expected to panic. As Judeo-Christians we fight along with spiritual luminaries like St. Michael. Atheists and agnostics, without spiritual support, must live in fear. As for abandoning ourselves “to hopes that heaven will save us” is exactly the Judeo-Christian plan for those who, follow Jesus Christ and all his saints and angels leading the victorious advance. You say, “We know from history that God seldom directly intervenes.” (that is terribly false). You say “We were given the intelligence and fortitude to figure this out ourselves. But first, we have to rely on each other as We, the People, to solve this and other future challenges.” Your pathetic reliance on human will Is what has doomed Man to defeat in all of human history – from Genesis to 2026.” You end by saying “…isolating ourselves in fear and helplessness is useless and unworthy.” Yes, exactly – and abandoning God is what brings helplessness, unworthiness, and ultimate failure and destruction.
The ultimate tragedy in human history, the ultimate disaster, is to deliberately reject Almighty God for earthly status, to reject eternal joy in exchange for eternal suffering in Hell.
