The new Miss Regional California USA® Pageant is now accepting applications. Toay Productions has been providing young women with the opportunity to be the ambassador for the county of Ventura for over 10 years. The Teen and Miss titleholders will both receive over $5000 in entry fee/scholarship and prizes. These prizes will include a photo shoot from KSSP Photography, website designed, a custom gown, make-up, jewelry and many other gifts from local sponsors. Our corporate sponsors, Lexus of Oxnard http://www.dchlexusofoxnard.com/ and H&R Block hrblock.com have helped to ensure that the scholarship or entry fee is available to the two new titleholders.
This year the pageant is geared toward giving young women a choice to compete at a state pageant or receive a $500.00 cash scholarship. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen never married or pregnant. Participants must be a resident of California for the past 6 months. Applicants attending college out of state may enter if their primary residence is in California.
The sign-up date for this year’s pageant is on May 13, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. at Norman E. Brekke Elementary School, 1400 Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. Oxnard, CA. All Participants will be taught communication skills, interview techniques, walking techniques, the importance of character, poise, and stage presence.
The recently crowned Lace Granatelli is a Moorpark resident and daughter of Joe and Dee Dee Ann Granatelli. Lace is a member of the Health Science Academy at Moorpark High School and her career ambition is to help children born with deformities and burn victims by becoming a Pediatric Dermatologist. She has achieved a 4.0 GPA and will dedicate her time to the community by continuing to volunteer her time to Teens for Humanity, Catholic Charities, and Youth Aids Awareness. Lace has helped organize peace rallies at Moorpark High School and currently holds the position of President on the Teens for Humanity executive board for the organization’s Moorpark Chapter. She is also on the City of Moorpark’s Teen Council and interns regularly for a group of Dermatologists in her community to better her path to becoming a reconstructive surgeon.

Krystal Sewell was awarded the title of Miss Greater Ventura County USA® 2009. She is a graduate of California State University of Fullerton and majored in Business Administration, her career ambition is to work in the Human Resources field. Diabetes is the charity that she has spent countless hours informing the community about because it has even affected her own family. Her goal is to help prevent other families from dealing with this illness without properly being educated on the prevention and life skills to deal with the disease. Krystal has been dancing for over 15 years and has received awards for dancing in the following areas: jazz, ballet and lyrical dance. She was a top fifteen and a top ten finalists at last years Miss California USA® pageant and will be joined this year with Lace Granatelli who will be competing for Miss California Teen USA®.
These young women have set a goal of being the official county representatives for all local community events and representing our county at the next state competition. On April 4, 2009, Lace attended the Earth Day festival where she was introduced to the community police and fire department. On April 9, 2009 Lace and Krystal attended the Latino Career Business Expo with their corporate sponsor H&R Block.
The Miss & Teen Regional California USA® Pageants is an official preliminary pageant to Miss California USA® or you may obtain an educational scholarship worth $500.00. It is open to Teen applicants ranging from ages 13 to17 and Miss applicants 17 to 25. This opportunity has led many local titleholders to pursue their education goals, modeling, singing and acting opportunities. The reigning 2009 Miss Greater Ventura County Teen USA®, Lace Granatelli and Miss Greater Ventura County USA®, Krystal Sewell and Taylor Atkins, Miss California Teen USA® 2008 hosted a Princess Event on May 8, 2009 at Chick-Fil-A in Oxnard. The Princess Event promoted family interaction, goal setting and fun for everyone. Mary Kay cosmetics donated their time to do the make-up for all little princess that attended the event and it was a fun-filled evening for everyone.
We are thrilled that Taylor Atkins was crowned Miss California Teen USA® 2008 and will be hosting the Miss Regional California USA® pageant. She is a Fillmore High School Senior with a 4.5 GPA. She will be attending UCLA in the fall majoring in communications. Because of her determination and opportunities with pageantry she will now be the new face on the Nintendo Wii Game Diva Girls portraying Kelly Anderson and it will be released September 2009. The pageant will be on June 21, 2009 at 5:00 pm and held at the Pacifica Performing Arts Center, 600 West Gonzales, Oxnard, CA. Tickets will be available at the door for $15 the night of the competition. This pageant encourages young women that would like to make a positive impact in their community, and to be motivated to achieve their educational and career goals.
