Fillmore Lions Club Hosts 85th Annual Student Speaker Contest
On Monday, February 7th, five Fillmore youth participated in the 85th Annual Lions Club Student Speaker Contest. This year’s speech topic was “How can kindness unite our country?” With each student following strict rules and guidelines, the judges picked the top winner: Fillmore High School junior Alanna Garcia. She won $100 from our local club and will compete with other winners next month in Camarillo for the next level. We wish her all the luck! Pictured above is Club President Steve McKeown, and all five participants Jimena Cortes, Camilo Torres, Carmen Ibarra, Jessica Videgain and Alanna Garcia, and Lions Club members Lynn Edmonds and Gaylynn Brien.
