Be Ready Before an Emergency
Disasters can happen with little warning. A few simple steps today can help you and your household prepare.
Build an emergency kit. Keep water, nonperishable food, a flashlight, a first aid kit, medications, and other essential supplies at home. Include what children, older adults, and pets may need.
Pack a go bag. Prepare a bag you can grab quickly if you need to leave. Include medications, copies of important documents, a phone charger, clothing, and other essentials for each household member.
Make a plan. Talk with your household about how you will stay in contact and where you will go if you need to evacuate.
