Benjamin Hubert Burson

April 16, 1923 to October 10, 2009
Benjamin Hubert Burson “Ben”, passed away Saturday, October 10, 2009 at the Ventura Convalescent, after a lengthy illness. He was 86 years old.
Ben was born April 16, 1923, in Santa Paula, Ca. to Helen and Carl Burson. He grew up in Fillmore attending the elementary schools and graduating Fillmore High School in 1941. After graduating he served proudly in the U.S. Army during WWII.
After serving In the Army he returned to work for his parents on the Burson Ranch on Guiberson Rd. After his parents died and the ranch was sold he moved to Brookings, Oregon and built a home with his wife, Pat Neal Burson, and grew blueberries.
When his health started declining he moved back to Ventura County and lived until his death.
Ben was preceded in death by his parents, Helen and Carl Burson, his first wife Elsie, his second wife Pat Neal Burson and his friend Sara McCormick who brought laughter back into his life.
Ben leaves his children: Patty Reynolds (Garry) of Hillsboro Tx, Beverly Stith (Mark) of Tollhouse, Ca., Bill Burson (Sharyn) of Fillmore Ca., Mike Burson of Hillsboro Tx., David Burson (Debbie) of Mt. Shasta Ca., and Deborah Burson of Mt. Shasta Ca. 17 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grand children. His brothers Stowell Burson, Carl and Rita Burson and sister Mildred Mosier and Dorothy Alice Oppenheimer (Peer), and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for him during his illness both at Cypress Place and the Ventura Convalescent.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. 1139 Del Norte Rd. Camarillo Ca 93010. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of the Charles Carroll Funeral Home, 15 Teloma Dr. Ventura Ca 93003.
