Students from local colleges and universities represented in 6th Annual Emerging Artist Cup at Harbor Village Gallery

Buenaventura Art Association’s 6th Annual Emerging Artist Cup at the Harbor Village Gallery received entries from California Lutheran University, California State University Channel Islands (CSUCI), Moorpark, Oxnard, Ventura and Laurus College.

Jeanette Corona (CSUCI) won First Place as well as a $1,200 scholarship for her oil painting titled “Donuts”. Paige Kilbourne won Second Place well as a $700 scholarship for her graphite piece titled “Untitled”. James Joseph Nagy (Moorpark) won Third Place as well as a $400 scholarship for a liquid emulsion/steel plate piece titled “Ascension”. Honorable Mentions as well as a $300 art supply gift certificate went to Erika Craig (CSUCI), Antonio Garcia (CSUCI), Claudia Jones (Ventura College), Linda Kennon (Ventura College) and Kelsey Showalter (Moorpark). In addition to prizes mentioned above, all winners received a one year membership in the Buenaventura Art Association with free entries into all shows throughout the year. Ten students received Merit Awards and won a membership as well.

Funds for the 6th Annual Emerging Artist Cup were raised by Buenaventura Art Association’s “By the Sea and The Channel Islands” Calendar as well as the Jessica and Stanley Prescott Trust and other donors.
