Four local artists will demonstrate their work and techniques in the Museum of Ventura County’s courtyard on Sunday, August 29, from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. The artists are Michele Chapin, whose stone sculpture is presently on solo exhibit at the museum; painter Sarah Kalvin; leatherworker Steve Stewart; and textile artist Lorna Morck. All the artists will have work available for purchase through the Museum Store. This is the first in a series of Museum Store events to be held throughout the year to highlight Ventura County artists.

That same day, at 3:00 p.m., costume historian Shelly Foote will discuss the life and work of Howard Greer, one of the first movie costume designers to gain fame at a “Designer to the Stars.” The lecture in the museum’s pavilion is $5 for the general public, free for museum members. Admission to the lecture also includes general admission to the museum. For reservations, call (805) 653-0323 x 315.

The Museum of Ventura County is located at 100 East Main Street in downtown Ventura. For more information, go to www.venturamuseum.org or (805) 653-0323.
