The Ag Art Alliance was formed in 2007 by Gail Pidduck and John Nichols. The purpose of the exhibit is to promote Art About Agriculture by exploring all the facets of agriculture from workers to water, from machinery to fields and to the food that goes on our plates.

Eligibility

Art about Agriculture is open to all artists over the age of 18 working in both two and three dimensional media who create art that in some way draws its inspiration from our agricultural heritage and/or contemporary agriculture. That inspiration may include, but is not limited to, depictions of rural landscape, farm animals, farm products, rural life. Art that in a more abstract way deals with issues and ideas related to agriculture will also be considered.

All styles of work and media are considered: painting, drawing,
photography, sculpture, mixed media, ceramics, batik, metals, and tapestry.

Specifications

Artists may enter a maximum of 3 works. Work that needs to be hung
should not exceed 150 pounds and the size limit is 36” x 48”. (Larger pieces will be considered but space is usually limited.) Wall hung work must be framed and wired for hanging. Works on paper should be glazed. The Ag Art Alliance reserves the right at all times to exclude any work that presents complex exhibition challenges.

Entry Requirements For Images and Documents

1. Up to 3 digital images as an attachment

Selection will be made from digital images emailed to the Ag Art Alliance at agartalliance@gmail.com or sent by mail on a CD with 1-3 images (300 pixels per inch at about 4x5 inches, 8 bit, jpg). This size usually reproduces best in newspapers. Contact John with any questions.
If the image is too large for email use a service like Pando or YouSendIt. Dropbox for sharing folders is recommended.
No PowerPoint or similar presentations. Include name, contact information, medium, titles, sizes, and prices. Images must be received by September 25, 2013.

2. Resume and Personal Statement

Resumes and statements must be in a document format such as .doc or .pages. We can not use image files like jpg or pdf files. Although they may look nice they can not be edited or cut and pasted.

Jurors

Works for the exhibition will be selected by a panel of Ag Art Alliance’s curatorial staff.

Sales

Work must be for sale to be eligible for the exhibit. The Santa
Paula Art Museum and the Ag Art Alliance receive a 40% commission on all
sales.

Prizes

There will be $500 in prizes awarded by a panel of judges.

Fees

If you are mailing your art submission please include a non-refundable processing fee of $30. If you are emailing your submission please send the processing fee by mail or Pay Pal. No submissions will be viewed until the processing fee is received. The fee covers the submission of up to 3 images.

Use of Art for Publicity

Submission of a digital image by an artist constitutes agreement for the Ag Art Alliance to reproduce art work for catalog, publicity, website and
educational purposes unless otherwise specified by the artist.
Delivery of Art on Monday, November 4

If accepted the artist is responsible for delivering the art before the exhibition and taking it off site after the exhibition. Art not picked up within 90 days after the end of the exhibit will be donated to charity. Both museums are on a tight exhibit schedule and have no room for storage.

Liability

The museum exercises the same care and respect to loans as it does in the safekeeping of its own property. The museum does not insure items while on the museum’s premises. Artists must supply their own insurance.

Opening Reception: Saturday, November 9
From 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at The Santa Paula Art Museum
From 3:00 - 6:00 p.m. at the Agriculture Museum

Entry Form and Digital Images Due by September 25

Notification of Acceptance or Rejection of Artists’ Work: October 9

Accepted Artists Paperwork and Forms will be emailed after Oct. 9.

Final paperwork due back from artists by October 16

Actual Work to Arrive at Museums:
Monday, November 4 from 10 to 2 (unless other arrangements are made) If your work is accepted you will be informed which pieces need to be delivered.

Return of Work: Monday, February 10, 2014 from 10-12
