With more than 5 million people in the United States suffering the affects of Alzheimer’s disease, and a new diagnosis very 71 seconds, the Alzheimer’s Association will focus on the growing need for patient services, caregiver support, advocacy and research with a special Town Hall Gathering at St. Johns Regional Medical Center in Oxnard, Thursday, November 13th from 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM.

This free event will be hosted by Arlene Stepputat, Program Director of the Alzheimer’s Association. A panel discussion will include representatives in the field of Alzheimer’s research, professional and family caregivers, and estate planning.

Alzheimer’s disease is a degenerative and eventually fatal brain disorder, and presents a growing health and cost challenge for America. It affects all ethnicities. As baby boomers continue to age, it is clear that our present health care system is unable to support people with dementia and related cognitive disorders. Anyone who is curious about the disease, concerned about diagnosis, or caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s should attend.

The Alzheimer’s Association, California Central Coast Chapter, serves over 30,000 people facing Alzheimer’s, or dementia, and their families in Ventura, Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo Counties. The Association offers respite care, family care consultations, support groups, education to Caregivers and professionals, and works to raise awareness of Alzheimer’s disease. All services are free to people with dementia, and those who are caring for them.
