Albert Sandoval (1966-2021)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Father, Son, Brother, Brother-n-law, Uncle, Grandson, Nephew and Nino, Albert Sandoval.
Albert was born on August 10th 1966, he gained is wings and entered into his forever heavenly home with his loved ones by his side on March 11th 2021 after a sudden and short battle of gastric cancer.
Albert is survived by his mother Norma Virto, His children; Shyleen, Jonathan & Jacob , His Siblings; Louie, Lisa, Hugo, Gina, Arisela, Jaime, Oscar, Susie, Angelica, Gabi & soon to be first grandson along with a large extended family.
Albert loved his family and enjoyed his hang out at Central Station in Fillmore with good friends. He was known to be quiet but also life of the party. He loved his Raiders!
Albert proceeded into the recent death of his Grandma Innocencia Marquez and Cousin Jordan Chavez

Martina Ann Carrillo-Wiseman (1975-2020)

Martina Ann Carrillo-Wiseman, born March 29, 1975 ascended into the Heavens on October 28, 2020. She passed away at home with her mother & daughter at her side, surrounded by love.
Martina was raised in Fillmore, she graduated Class of 1993 from Fillmore High School. Most knew her to be quiet and reserved, but if you had spent enough time with her, eventually you’d find out.... she really was the life of the party.
She had an amazing smile and this unforgettable laugh, just hearing it made you want to smile too.
Not even a 5 year battle with cancer could steal her smile or laugh away. Ultimately, it was her bout with Stage 4 colon cancer that took her life, but not without a hard fight and a belief with her whole being that she could overcome anything.
She was preceded in death by her father Richard Villa Carrillo.
She is survived by mother Diane Carrillo, husband Kevin Wiseman, brother Richard Carrillo Jr., her daughter Sandra (Osuna) Edwards, son-in-law Damian Edwards, & granddaughter Amira Edwards. Amira truly was her motivation to hold on; Martina wanted nothing more than to see her granddaughter grow up.

A Celebration of Life service/interment will be held on March 29th 2021 at 1:00 PM at Bardsdale Cemetery on what would be Martina’s 46th birthday — 1698 South Sespe St. Fillmore, CA. Gerard “Gerry” Max Joske, 95 years, passed away February 19, 2021 due to an injury sustained from a fall.
Gerard was born May 8, 1925 in Leipzig, Germany. His family immigrated to France in 1933 where they settled in Southern France in the small village of Vence, near Nice. In 1941, at a very young age, Gerry was recruited from the Boy Scouts to the French Resistance battling the Nazi’s through the end of World War II.
He and his wife Angele immigrated to the U.S in 1949, living in New York City initially, eventually settling in Southern California.
In order to afford passage to visit family in France, Gerry secured an airline job with Trans World Airlines (TWA). He had a passion for aviation and was recognized for his skills and knowledge along with having a friendly, positive manner of dealing with all situations whether challenging or not. He spent 34 years with TWA. After settling in Fillmore California in 1983, he held a few part time jobs, which included driving for the local bus company (FATCO), farming his property and being a regular at the Ventura Farmer’s Market. He also worked as a volunteer in Fillmore for various causes.
He loved to camp and fish, which included a 50-year membership in the Wally Byam Airstream Club and was a member of the retired TWA trailer club.
He is survived by three children; Jacqueline Hettlinger, Denis Joske and Raymond Joske. Six Grandchildren; Theresa Fortier, Jordan Alexander, Spencer Joske, Jenna Maloney, Jacob Joske and Cara Joske. Four Great Grandchildren; Isabella Fortier, Akela Fortier, Nathan Fortier and James Maloney.
There will be a private interment at the Bardsdale Cemetery on March 26, 2021 at 1:00pm.

Florencio “Flower” Guzman Manzano (1961-2021)

Florencio “Flower” Guzman Manzano, born May 1, 1961 in Cerritos, San Luis Potosi, Mexico in the ranch of Manzanillas, was reunited with those who went before into the Lord’s grace on February 11, 2021. After a childhood spent in Mexico, Florencio came to his hometown of Fillmore, California at age 11. It was in high school that Florencio earned the nickname “Flower,” which was shorthand for his birth name, but also reflected his kind disposition. So it wasdestined to be that while in high school Florencio would meet the love of his life, Rosalind— or “Flower and Rose,” together.
Florencio and Rosalind could be seen regularly cruising in his 1964 Chevy Impala, which he would proudly display at car shows up and down the coast. It was through his interest in cars that he came into his life’s work as an automotive mechanic, working for the local dealership, William L. Morris. Eventually after attending Ventura College and earning multiple certifications, he would run his own automotive repair shop in Ventura, California. Through this shop he would develop many of his closest professional relationships, as he quickly became known in the area for his deep technical know-how and willingness to tackle any problem. Even if doing so meant fixing others missteps— which his family could tell you was a favorite complaint of his. Still, it was not uncommon for him to offer payments or forgive debts of those who were struggling to pay and needed a working vehicle. Kindness and generosity were Florencio’s gift, manifested through a wrench and grease.
Throughout his treatment he would echo a sentiment that reflected his dedication to family before anything else, “I lost my Mom, I can get through anything.” He would share this with anyone who asked about his condition, never to be defined by illness, but carried through it by strength of faith and family.
He was preceded by parents Sotero Manzano Barron, Maria Bernabe Guzman Manzano, and brother Federico Manzano.
He is survived by wife Rosalind, son Lorenzo, daughter Jennie, son-in-law Alec, siblings Jose Angel, Juan Angel, Angela, Elvira, Esperanza, Felipe, Fernando, Ruben, Ana, Socorro, Lupe, and grandson Andre; with whom he shared many hours talking to in their favorite place, the red backyard swing.
Visitation will have a limited capacity from 8:00am to 9:00am on Friday, March 12th, 2021 at Church of Angels, 600 East Pleasant Street in Santa Paula, California. A rosary will be recited at 10:30am with a Funeral Mass to begin at 11:00am at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 1048 Ventura Street in Fillmore, California. Interment to follow at Bardsdale Cemetery, 1698 South Sespe Street in Fillmore, California.If attending, please observe current COVID-19 regulations - masks must be worn, and social distancing guidelines will be observed.

Francisco Alba Becerra (1952-2021)

On the morning of February 13th, 2021 our Dad Francisco Alba Becerra or as most of you knew him as Frank or Panchito passed away peacefully at the age of 68.
Dad was born on June 19th, 1952 in Purisima, Guanajuato Mexico to Ramon and Genoveva Becerra. He was the youngest of 8 siblings. Frank graduated from Fillmore High School in 1970 and soon after enlisted in the United States Army. He took great pride about the time he spent serving our country. The stories he would share about being in Germany were the best. After being honorably discharged 2 years later, he returned to Fillmore where he began working at Fillmore-Piru Citrus Association for the next 38 years.
In between that time, he met our mom Gloria. Having settled down in Fillmore after they got married, they had 4 beautiful girls. Dad had no chance in a household filled with all girls. He was always so patient and understanding but most importantly he supported all our decisions. He wore the “girl dad” crown proudly. He did so much for all of us that we will always be grateful for him.
Frank unexpectedly took early retirement 11 years ago due to a massive heart attack while vacationing in Las Vegas. With all the free time on his hands, he enjoyed going for early morning walks down Central Ave. In the evenings you would catch him watching his favorite TV shows or the latest movies with Mom. He also loved watching sports. He was a huge fan of soccer which included his favorite teams Cruz Azul and Leon. Once a week he would make us frijoles de la olla and fresh orange juice from his favorite tree in the backyard. Weekend BBQ’s were a must at our house as well. And if you knew him, he always looked forward to taking Mom on their spontaneous road trips to Las Vegas. The best part about being retired was getting to spend more time with family and enjoying the grandkids that entered his life at just the right moment.
Frank is survived by his wife who was also his best friend, Gloria Ayala Becerra. His daughters Rosalyn and Tiffany Becerra, Priscella (Jose) Murillo and Susan (George) Murillo. His grandchildren Phoenix Francisco, Kamille Alexa and Audrey Rose Murillo. He is also survived by his siblings Antonio Becerra, Felipe (Angeles) Becerra, Antonia (Francisco) Perez, Guadalupe Gamino and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Ramon and Genoveva Becerra, his sisters Soledad Tapia and Alejandra Huerta and brother Cosme Becerra.
Funeral services are on Wednesday, March 10th. A viewing will be held at The Perez Family Funeral Home in Fillmore at 8:30am. Outdoor mass at Saint Francis of Assisi church at 10am followed by a burial service where he will be laid to rest at Santa Clara Cemetery in Oxnard.

Mary Ann Berrington (1934-2021)

Mary Ann Berrington left our world on January 16th in the early morning to be with our dad. She had suffered with Parkinson’s disease for the last ten years and died from Covid and pneumonia in her lungs.
Mary Ann was born to Charles and Mary Mulvihill in Missouri. Her family moved to California when she was little. She moved to Fillmore when she was a sophomore in high school, met our dad and the rest is history!
Mom is survived by three daughters Noreen, Kathleen and Christine and two sons Jim and Chuck. She is survived by six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and one on the way in August!!
We will celebrate with a memorial mass at a later time due to Covid concern. Mom will be buried with our dad at Bardsdale Cemetery.

Lorraine M. McKinnon (1936-2021)

Lorraine M McKinnon loving Mother, Grandmother and Great-grandmother. Passed away peacefully to enter her eternal life on Friday, February 12, 2021. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years John J McKinnon. Their anniversary is February 20, 2021. Lorraine was born in Dorchester MA to Catherine and Joseph Groezinger. Granddaughter of Daniel Burke and Mary Ida Mullin. Niece of Eleanor Mullin (Narnie) Sister of Barbra Averill. Mother of Joanne Peddell, John McKinnon, Catherine McKinnon ,Eleanor Davison, Arlene McKinnon ,Stephen McKinnon, Lauren Vigil. Grandmother of 17. Great-grandmother of 24. Lorraine (AKA) Mum, Mommy, Grandma, Rainie was one of the strongest women you would ever meet. She faced many challenges early in life. Later after Dad passed her health became compromised. She never lost her faith and belief that her and Dad would be together forever.
Every one that knows her will not forget her dedication to family, friends, baking, genealogy scriptures and of course Church. Lorraine was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She loved her community. She enjoyed her many callings throughout the years and especially Sunday School and seminary. Most of all she loved her family. Holidays, gatherings, time spent together, and conversations when we were on the phone. They usually started with Hi honey or your name then ended with I love you, talk to you soon. She even learned to FaceTime so she could see could share stories. We are all Grateful, Thankful and Blessed to have you in our lives.
Forever in our hearts .Watching over us with Dad.

Maria Dolores Lopez Acosta (1929-2021)

On the evening of January 17th our beloved mother, Grandma Grandma, aunt and Friend to many went to be with our lord and father. She passed at her home peacefully.
Maria Dolores Lopez Acosta was born 08-08-1924 to Juan Adolfo Lopez and Herlinda Lopez Hernandez in Tepic Nayarit Mexico. The family then moved to cuidad Obregon Sonora, then to Nogales son/AZ. Where in 1943 she met her future husband Johnny. While on leave before his WW II tour. In the European theater after returning and his Discharge he went to Nogales and they reacquainted and got married. He then brought her to Fillmore and raised 6 children 1 deceased. Our mom enjoyed dancing, camping visiting and Pilgrimages in Mexico with her family and sisters and cousins. She also supported us going to our football games. She always made us laugh even recently. Her slipper was her way to discipline us. We loved her handmade tortillas and was well known for her tamales at Christmas time.
She is a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church and in the past las Guadalupanas and los padrinos clubs she also became a citizen in the late 70s besides being a house wife she was employed by Fillmore Citrus Assn. Fashion development (olga) and carter west furniture as a seamstress.
Those that have gone before her are Estella Acosta, John R. Acosta , Emma Cota, Brunilda Verdugo and Gustavo Lopez she is survived by sister Guadalupe Quinones and brother Juan Rurico lopez. She also leaves behind John Acosta Jr of Fillmore Herlinda Lopez Acosta of 4 grandchildren an 1 great grandchild Delena Mynatt (Eric) 5 grandchildren 13 great grand children. Victor (Michelle strosser) 2 grandchildren 5 great grand children David 1 granddaughter 1 great grandchild. And many nieces, nephews and friends funeral services will be Friday, February 19th at St. Francis Church, 1048 Ventura St. Fillmore, Ca. Rosary at 9:30 mass thereafter and final rest at Bardsdale cemetery the service will also be available on YouTube for those that cannot attend.
The family request safe social distancing at her service for those that can attend the family would like to thank Dr Logan Bundy and staff Access T.L.C. home hospice caregiver nurse and staff. And all who assisted with watchful care and baths. We appreciate you all. May she Rest in Peace!

Ramiro Mendez Aguilar (1960-2021)

On Thursday January, 21, 2021 Ramiro Mendez Aguilar a loving husband and father of 5 children passed away at the age of 60 years old. He was born March, 1, 1960 in Michoacan Mexico. In 1978 he came to Fillmore, ca. Wear People got to name him as "EL SHORTY" he was well known here in town and very much loved. He was married to Rose Marie "ROSY" Tapia who passed away in 2006. He remarried Maria de la Luz Garcia. He was also a great father to his 5 kids Susanna, Patricia (Diana), Ramiro Jr (Sarah), Mari Cruz (Andres), and Victor. 8 grand kids Ricardo, Isaiah, Rose, Jaycob, Mariah, Leylani, Romeo, and Maria Carolina. He left behind his mother Maria de la Luz Mendez. (Siblings) Lupe, Jose, Miguel, Enrique, Salvador, Ana, Veronica, and Amparo. He will be reunited with his father Enrique Mendez. Ramiro had a passion for raising and breeding his roosters and chickens. He also enjoyed his work as a car detailer here in Fillmore. Everyone that got their car washed by him knows how beautiful his work was and how much detail he put in to it! He also enjoyed his Starbucks coffee which he was there daily. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Loreto and Amelia Martinez (1936 & 1938 - 2021)

It’s with heavy heart that we announce the passing of our parents Loreto and Amelia Martinez.
Loreto Martinez, born on September 8, 1936 in Silo Guanajuato and passed away peacefully on January 5, 2021. Amelia Martinez born on October 14, 1938 in Silo Guanajuato and passed away peacefully 15 days after her husband on January 20,2021.
Loreto will be remembered for his stories about Mexico, his gardening tips, his tools, keys, bikes, and many, many radios that he collected over the years. He was a proficient player of dominoes and enjoyed playing with his daughter and grandkids.
Amelia was well known for her cooking, especially her famous flour tortillas. She would always be sure there was enough food to feed the neighborhood. She would share food to the neighbors and was very thoughtful of others.
They are survived by Evaristo (Betty), Benito (Esperanza), Juan (Estela), Pedro (Margarita), Isaias (Valerie), Jorge (Josephina), Gabino (Lorena) and Maria Petra, grandparents to 28 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren.
The lord needed a hardworking man and an excellent flour tortilla maker up in heaven. Their presence will be truly missed but will always remain in our hearts.
May they both Rest Peacefully.

Jacqueline Monier Cassidy (1938-2021)

Jacqueline Monier Cassidy passed away peacefully in Fillmore, California, on January 10, 2021 at the age of 82. After surviving the Covid-19 virus in July of 2020, this second time to contract the virus this January was too much for her fragile system to handle.
Jacqueline was born on December 16, 1938 in Montreal, Canada and was the daughter of Clara and Louis Monier. She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Jack Cassidy. She is survived by her children, Donna Cassidy, Linda-marie Monier, Larry Cassidy, and Kelly Cassidy. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, extended family, and her four siblings.
Jacqueline grew up in the French-speaking Monier home in Montreal with brothers, Jean and Louis, and sisters, Marie and Therese. As a teenager, she moved to California where she met Larry Cassidy and raised four rambunctious children in Fillmore. She was active in the community and worked at the Security Pacific Bank as a teller. Later, she became the sole-owner of a “laundromatic” (as she called it) in Fillmore where she was proud to have repaired the washers and dryers on her own. Jacqueline always set ambitious goals and enjoyed many years working at the County Government Center in Ventura prior to her retirement.
Jacqueline’s generosity was unmatched and she touched the lives of all she met. She had an exuberant personality, infectious smile and laugh that filled the room. She shared her love of adventure in nature, reading, music, gardening, and cooking with her family as she showed them how to find the magic in life.
Jacqueline meant the world to her family and will be missed by us all. She will be buried alongside Larry Jack Cassidy at the Bardsdale Cemetery in Fillmore, California. Her encouraging sentiments with her French accent and occasional "oui, oui" and "ooh la la" will always be with us as she joyfully bounces from cloud to cloud.

Robert (Bob) Gene Crum (1938-2021)

Robert (Bob) Gene Crum, 82, of Fillmore, CA, passed away on January 14, 2021. He was born in Princeton, NJ on October 18, 1938.
Bob was always ready with an easy smile and an engaging story to tell. He had a remarkable ability to touch people’s lives in a profound and positive way. Bob lived life to the fullest, amongst his greatest passions being photography, exploring, and writing about the outdoors. His grandchildren enjoyed listening to all his stories, including those from his time in the United States Air Force Strategic Air Command and working for the Florida Department of Fish and Wildlife.
Bob is survived by his children Steve, Mike, and Debbie and his grandchildren Katie and Andy. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the many of Bob’s friends who were there for him always and in any way. A special thank you to the health care professionals who brought comfort and solace at the end of his journey.

Yolanda Casas Erazo (1961-2021)

It is with great sadness the family of Yolanda Erazo announces her passing after battling for her life due to Covid-19. Yolanda Erazo was a loving mother and grandmother. A life long resident of Fillmore California she passed away on January 4th, 2021 at the age of 59.
Yolanda was born in Santa Paula California on July 13th, 1961 to Santiago and Irene Casas. She graduated from Fillmore High School in 1979. She worked at Boskovich Farms for over 32 years. In 1990 her daughter Breeza was born and in 1994 her son Jimmy was born. They were the most important pieces in her life, she was one of a kind. She enjoyed reading books, finishing puzzles, word searches, her love for movies made her a true enthusiast and above all else she loved Diet Coke. On October 13th, 2018 she was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, she loved what the Bible taught her and she loved to share it with others. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends, as well as all who knew her.
Yolanda will be forever remembered by her children and granddaughters; Breeza De La Cruz (Husband Jose De La Cruz) Jimmy Erazo (Wife Ariana Erazo) and granddaughters Bella and Bianna. The immense hole she has left in our hearts is comforted only by the promise to see her again Revelation 21:1-5.

Michael Anthony Lara (1965-2021)

I am writing my own obituary, not because no one else can do it as well, but because I want to acknowledge what I feel was truly important in my life.
I was born Michael Anthony Lara, and had one brother, Arnold. Our parents were Arthur and Charlotte Bouvet Lara, hard-working parents, who instilled in all of us the value of an education and responsibility, establishing strong and enduring roots.
I have had so many blessings in my life, more than I deserved, but not more than I could truly appreciate and value as gifts to be cherished: My Religious Education Children and Catechists, who gave me a sense of purpose as a teacher and hopefully, learned something positive from me. I thank God for giving me the gift to share music as an organist and Cantor, and to praise his holy name through song. My heart was so glad to offer my Lord praise and glory. To my friends, who were more like members of my family, always ready to help boost me up and keep my laughter in life. My much-loved extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, and compadres, with whom I shared so many events of both joy and sadness, throughout my life. My many god children, who I would die for and made me so proud. My brother, who has always been super supportive, and who gave me so much more than I gave to him. My friends the Ramirez and Lindsays, who always made me feel part of their families, especially during the holidays, and who forgave me the many mistakes that I made along the way. My best friend, Patrick Lindsay Jr, thank you for sharing Hesed; a masculine form of love, spoken of by the Jews and found in the scriptures (meaning always: being steadfast, dependable, righteous, and true to oneself and true to one’s promises.)
Thank you, all of you, for your priceless gifts. I loved you all.
A Mass will be held on Friday, January 22nd, 2021, at noon, at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 1048 Ventura St, Fillmore, CA 93015. A private burial to follow.

John “Owen” Muchisky

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the loss of John “Owen” Muchisky, 79. He passed away December 27, 2020 in his Bardsdale, Calif. home of 34 years.
Owen was born in Lansing, Mich. and moved to Corona, Calif.when he was fouryearsold. After graduatinghigh school and being a barber for three years,he enlisted in the Navy and served on the USS Lexington (CV-2)& USS Ticonderoga(CV-14) from 1961 - 1964. He then received a bachelor’s degree in special educationand historyfrom California State University, San Bernardino. Owen began his teaching career in Moreno Valley, where he was part of the Teachers Union and served as president for a time. He coordinated strikes in support of fair wages, healthcare, and better standards for their students.
Owen continued his profession in special education when he moved to Fillmore in 1979, and later became one of the first teachers at Fillmore Community High (Continuation) School. He mentored some of the most challenging and underestimated students and taught them that education is an asset. Owen also coached softball for the continuation school and was a coach for Fillmore High School’sjunior varsityfootball and junior varsity baseballteams. He won many league titles and was assistant coach for the 1988 California Interscholastic Federation (CIF)championship team.
He was full of wanderlust and traveled to 33 of the 50 states. He visited several national parks, monuments and museums. In 1976,his wife and cousin traveled on their motorcycles through the Thirteen Colonies. After retirement, Owen and his wife were joined by their grandchildren in the summertime and would travel across state lines in a recreational vehicle (RV).
Owen is survived by his wife Alicia “Birdie” Muchisky; Daughters Cheryl(Rinaldo) De Menezes and Deana Martinez; and five grandchildren: Lauren De Menezes, Jeremy Martinez, Nicholas De Menezes, Kylie Martinez andDaniel De Menezes.
Owen is reunited with his parents Mack and Ethel Muchisky, his son-in-law Ruben Martinez,and many beloved family members.
A celebration of his life is postponed due to the Coronavirus. An announcement will be made by the family when a date is confirmed.

Richard Schmittou of Fillmore CA, passed away on Saturday, Jan.2, 2021. Predeceased by his wife of 46 years, Corinne (Hunter). Survived by daughter Krysten Rieger, son Eric Schmittou (Ronda), and companion of 26 years, Josephine Myers. Dick served in WWII in the 101st Airborne Division in Bavaria. Following the war, he taught at Sespe School and managed the McNab Ranch in Fillmore. During his lifetime he volunteered for many activities, all with the theme of teaching and helping others. Remembrances may be made toVeterans organizations, Santa Clara Valley Hospice (217 N. 10th St., Santa Paula CA 93060), and the Fillmore High Alumni Scholarship Foundation (559 Sespe Ave., Fillmore CA 93015).

Celia R. Rangel (1932-2020)

On Sunday, December 27th, 2020 Celia R. Rangel a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother passes away in her home. Celia was born 02/25/1932 in El Salvador and was a long-time resident of Fillmore. Celia is survived by her 3 children; Son Mario Ramos, Daughter Corina Ponce (Husband Raul Ponce), & Son Oscar Ramos, her 8 grandchildren; Ernesto Lopez, Patricia Ramos, Estephanie Zuniga, Maricela Ramos, Christina Ramos, Kassandra Ramos, Oscar Ramos Jr, Thalia Ramos and 8 great grandchildren.

Linda A. Alba (1939-2020)

On Monday, December 7th, 2020, Linda A. Alba Loving wife, mother, grandma, and Great Grandma Passed away in her home surrounded by her family.
Linda was born December 28, 1939. Raised in Fillmore. Graduated from FHS in 1958. Married Robert Alba Sr. They were married 58 years had 3 boys. Jerome, Michael and Robert Alba, Jr.
Eight Grandkids Jessica, Nicole, Ciara, Hunter, Kaitlyn, Candace, Ethan, Marissa, four Great grandkids Aaliyah, Anthony, Andrew, Adrian, and one on the way.
She was well known and respected for her years as Campus Supervisor at FHS. We didn’t have cops on campus we had her. Special Thanks to her Caregiver of 6 years Jeanette and her son Robbie, and Ciara. Thank You to all the friends and family for all the Love and support.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, December 18, 2020. Viewing 12pm to 4pm, 10 person max. at a time. People will be allowed to wait outside.

Innocencia G. Marquez (1924-2020)

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Our Matriarch/ Our Queen who has gone to be with the Lord and has received her forever crown.
I could never measure up to be half the woman she was. An absolutely beautiful, loving and feisty all in one and always looking her best!
Rest in Peace My Queen!
God blessed Innocencia with 95 years just one month shy of 96 years. She is survived by 14 children, 35 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren
I love you grandma until we meet again. Thank you everyone for showering our family with your prayers, calls and texts. We all appreciate it.

Jerry G. Real (1957-2020)

Jerry was born in Piru, California, the youngest of three children to Joe and Nadine Real. He attended Piru Elementary School, and Fillmore High School.
As a youngster, he was quite the trickster which always got him in trouble, but not of any real consequence. The family never knew he had done a little mischief until days or months later. But he was always a little workaholic. As soon as he could push a lawnmower, Jerry would take it up the street and mow just about every lawn on Church Street. He loved making money and always had just enough to buy candy in the local stores in Piru.
Once he was tall enough to drive, he’d sneak his brother’s VW down the driveway in the middle of the night. Who knows when he returned to the chagrin of his brother who didn’t have a clue, except that the gas tank was empty!
After High School he enlisted into the US Army for two years. Once completed, he was employed by General Telephone in Long Beach and the surrounding areas from 1979 until his retirement in 2011.
However, in February 1981 he married the love of his life, Sabina (aka Beanie) Lacotts. A year later, they had a son, Jerald Real. Soon after Jerald was born, they moved from Lakewood, CA to the City of Baldwin Park until Jerry’s retirement. They settled down in Big River, Arizona where they enjoyed the sun, boating, jet skiing, fishing and entertaining all their family and friends.
But Jerry wasn’t one to sit still. He revamped the local Food Bank with Beanie’s help and not only organized them but moved them to a much better facility and took great care in delivering food items to those in need. He also worked for various companies with his skills of carpentry, electronics and his varied knowledge of just about everything. How? He just knew!
But he wasn’t through yet. He became the Wild Quail Ambassador feeding at least 200 wild quail every night at dusk next door to their place in Az. Those quail came running down the street, across the road, through bushes and through various properties. They’d come to be fed by Jerry. He must have spent a bundle to feed those birds, but he got quite a kick when they’d show up. He’ always say…”see they love me”!
Jerry and Beanie created a wonderful family together doting on their son through various athletic activities, and youth sports such as soccer, baseball and football all the way through to his years at Bishop Amat Catholic High School’s Football Team, and the San Gabriel Valley Jr All American Football Conference. Throughout Jerald’s involvement and beyond, Jerry and Beanie were supportive as coaches, running the snack bar and helping the youths that wouldn’t normally be able to play.
Jerry dedicated approximately 25 years to the San Gabriel Valley Jr All American Football Conference and Cheer in a multitude of roles. He started with the Baldwin Park Road Runners in 1990 where he served as an AD. Jerry eventually became the City President for Baldwin Park, before joining the Conference Board in 1995 as the Conference VP. In 2000, Jerry took over the leadership of Conference and spent 15 years leading this organization. Jerry was truly dedicated to this program and to our youth. Jerry will be remembered for his early vision of player safety and engaging this program with USA Football for the betterment of our athletes. (Provided by the SGVJAAF Conference)
In addition to his role as President, he provided and coordinated yearly golf tournaments to provide additional income for the Conference. He always managed to bring in golf participants from all walks of life and even coerced past NFL players to come to the event and speak about the conference and their good works in providing not only guidance but safety to those young players. If you knew anything about Jerry, those he’d approach just couldn’t say no to his request, since he was the total Negotiator. There were also various bus trips to Las Vegas to support the team. When you were around Jerry you never knew what to expect, except fun, adventure and pure entertainment!
His 2nd passion in life next to his family, were the Oakland, now Las Vegas Raiders. He was so obsessed with his team that just about everything he owned had a Raiders insignia on it. Once you stepped into his home, you knew you were in Raider territory. Often Jerry and Beanie would meet up with his sister at the Cardinals stadium in Glendale Arizona to watch the Cardinals play the Raiders. Although they cheered for opposite sides, they managed to sit together and heckle one another all through the game. Those were great moments to share even when one of the teams lost.
Sadly, Jerry leaves his wife Sabine, his Son Jerald (Julie) their two granddaughters Peyton and Kenzie, his sister Liz, (Wayne) and a multitude of cousins, friends and acquaintances.
Everyone who knew Jerry will be left with a heavy heart. However, it’s comforting to know that he will never be forgotten for his crazy antics, his love of family and friends and the many he befriended in his short life.
WE LOVE YOU JERRY AND YOU WILL SURELY BE MISSED
Services for Jerry will take place on December 4, 2020 at 10:00 beginning with a Rosary followed by the Mass at San Salvador Catholic Church located at 4041 Center Street, Piru, CA in the patio behind the church. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic no reception will be held. Interment will follow at the Piru Cemetery located at 3580 Center Street, Piru, CA. Masks will be required.
Since Jerry was such an avid fan of the LV Raiders, we’re asking that participants wear their Raider gear if possible for Jerry – he’d really like that!
