Central Avenue
![]() Conway Spitler It is great to be able to drive from River Street to Central Avenue! However, you really have a change in tactics! First you stop a Central Avenue and make a right turn on to Central Avenue. As you make the turn there is maintenance vehicle there tearing up the newly paved Central Avenue. |

Conway...this is always the way things happen around railroad tracks. I've only seen and experienced ONE railroad track that I know of in my 55+ years of driving, and that track was back in Arizona, in Phoenix near Baseline Road. And, too, remember in the paper..."They'll Do It Every Time?", some years ago...well here is one for them, as newly-paved urban roads or city streets are torn up in places to repair something. Gee, maybe you should also consider changing your driving routes, or the shock absorber and tire-alignment shop will have lots of business this year!
You should try it in a Pick
You should try it in a Pick Up Truck which is set up for actually hauling things. The more you need to haul the stiffer the suspension needs to be.
I love driving down Central on my way out so I can look in the windows and see my neighbors walking and shopping. Unfortunately there have not been very many people down town. Plus with the current condition of the street it is really a RUFF ride. And I'd prefer to NOT have to realign my truck any time soon.
'justus'...I think I read a
'justus'...I think I read a comment by Pancone, or Steve Conaway, or one of the City officials, that construction is underway, or will be underway soon, so these "bouncies" are taken out and repaired. Don't quote me on this! But I think someone said there are projects in the works that will eliminate these problems down Central, over the tracks and down to 126. You have to check with the Mayor or the Public Works Department to get the lowdown, however. I know what you mean, and I, too, love to drive through town, looking in the windows; they call it, "drive-by window-shopping" here. Traveling down Central or "Main Street, USA", is a lot of fun...lots of things to see and many fantastic chica's, too! That's usually the "crusing" street. Wait and see what happens to downtown when the Christmas shopping season comes, real soon...and the lights, and decorations are up. Your neighbors, day and night walkers will be out then, I assume. Pickups do have a heavier suspension. I never had one in my life, but want one someday. We can get American vehicles here, too, as they are assembled here in the Philippines. Anyway, 'justus', hope you and yours have a Happy Thanksgiving!
